Tykerb/xeloda

Progression on abraxane, now on to tykerb/xeloda combo. I will stop herceptin and abraxane but continue on aredia. I'm a little anxious about stopping herceptin. Any thoughts or ideas on this.

Thanks

Dawn

Stopping Herceptin for Ty/Xel doesn't mean you're stopping Herceptin forever... I was on Herceptin for about 2 years when we switched to Ty/Xel (for brain mets)... it worked great for me for 18 months, and when we saw small progression we dropped the Xeloda and added in Herceptin, then I got another 2+ years on Ty/Herc... now I am in TDM1 trial which is also Herceptin based. You are probably far from being done w/ Herceptin, so don't worry too much.

Hi Dawn
I also had progression on Abraxane and now I am on Tykerb/Xeloda AND Herceptin. I have been on all three before but am hoping the three in combination will improve the situation till the next drug comes along. Bring on the Pertuzumab and/or TDM-1! As Brenda said you can resume Herceptin if need be but hopefully Xeloda/Tykerb will be enough for now. It certainly gave me a good year of tumour reduction. Remember Tykerb is targeting the HER2 receptors although differently to Herceptin.
All the best
Trish

Thanks Ladies,

will speak to my onc about herceptin, feeling better about the combo now. Anyone know anything on the TDM1 trails and whats happening. Sounds very promising.

Brenda,

Thanks for letting us know how long you tookTykerb and Herceptin. I am back on Herceptin after being off a year. I am currently taking only Herceptin and Tykerb.

Amelia
