HI Hopeful
I already asked this question but nobody answered: how you test fatty acids levels? Do you know?Michka

Re: Fatty Acid Synthase May Predict Molecular Functioning of Tykerb

Michka,

This article is a commentary on a research paper; Here is a link to the actual paper: http://breast-cancer-research.com/content/12/6/R96. The research paper describes how the researchers performed the testing under the Methods section:

"Methods

Using mass spectrometry, we identified FASN as one of the proteins that is dephosphorylated by lapatinib in SKBR3 breast cancer cells. Immunofluorescence, immunoprecipitation, Western blotting, a kinase assay, a FASN enzymatic activity assay, an invasion assay, a cell viability assay and zymography were used to determine the role of FASN phosphorylation in invasion of SKBR3 and BT474 cells. The FASN inhibitor C75 and small interfering RNA were used to downregulate FASN expression and/or activity."

There are not standard tests for a lot of these things; that is why it is important to examine the methodology the researchers come up with in light of the results they get.

Hopeful
