Anyone on abraxane please respond

Hi everyone,

So far the last two treatment I've been on didn't work. I'm now on abraxane and Herceptin. I have seeing some posts in the past of women who have been on this combination. Can you please share your experience? I appreciate a response.

Thank you,

Adriana

Adriana,
I did not know! I also have not been on Abraxane, but many have sworn by its benefit. I hope it's not too hard on you, and gets you to NED.
Love
Karen

Hi Adrianna
I've had two lots of Abraxane and Herceptin (see my signature) that worked well at the time for me getting significant reduction in liver tumour. I found it very tolerable, as the Abraxane is delivered differently to other taxanes. I had loss of hair etc, but was able to work, socialise and even exercise quite normally. I hope this is a good combo for you Adrianna.
Cheers Marie

I was on abraxane for 5 cycles on day 1 and day 8 with gemzar and herceptin. Side effects are loss of hair, constipation and tummy ache on treatment days. I was on a reduced dose. Side effects are manageable. I hope abraxane works for you with minimum side effects!

I was on Herceptin and Abraxane. I switched from Taxol because of an allergy. The combination appears to have eliminated my liver mets. I would definitely go on it again, as it was fairly easy to tolerate and was effective. I didn't have to have steroids with it, and the side effects were manageable. It's hard for me to differentiate between Taxol and Abraxane side effects. It's actually the one treatment I've been on where I did not experience any progression. The plan had been to do chemo for 12 weeks. That's the only reason we discontinued it.

Hi Adriana,
I missed this post.
I was on abraxane for about a year and it went well. It took care of my ascites almost immediately and kept things at bay. It was well tolerated and I think I planned on day 3 maybe 4 being my "off" days even tho I could still do things. I am a home health Physical therapist and was able to work part time. Continued with home and all too. I did have some increased but stable neuropathy partially left over though so hard to tell what it was actually from. Very tolerable. Loss of hair but got lots of pretty scarves and enjoyed no bad hair days.

Hope things are going well with you and you are doing well on the abraxane.
Cathy
