Not sure if you want to know (not knowing is bliss) all of this, as we have to go in for treatment almost weekly, I have mixed feeling reading above article. At the very least I highly recommend wearing a face shield in addition to a mask. Make sure there are very minimal gaps between mask and skin. It has been shown that two holes each with diameter 0.25 inch reduce filtration efficiency by 60%. Most people wear mask with gaps (nose, cheeks, chins) multiple time bigger than those two holes. Face shield are very cheap and reusable. Get the type with foam cushion between forehead and shield, this close the "top" gap.

Apology to nurses that you are temporary not very social and minimize conversation between you and them. During a number of typical procedure (blood drawn, etc) there is only a foot or so between you and them, AND their nose/mouth are on a higher plane than you. Be aware that the bathroom is a very high risk area, very small enclosed area (perhaps suggest to your clinic to tape the fan switch to always one), flushing generates aerosol in addition to breathing, etc. Develop a clear and consistent routine for disinfection immediately after leaving the clinic.
