Anybody have experience with Imiquimod or Photodynamic therapy
 

Hi All,

Do any of you have any experience with photodynamic therapy to treat skin mets or any kind of mets? Our doctor wants to try this along with Imiquimod cream for recurrent skin mets. This is her fourth recurrence of skin mets. The doctor also wants to change treatment course from Tykerb+Herceptin to TDM1.

Any input is greatly appreciated. Any precautions, dietary changes to take?

Hi,

I had two treatments of PDT a few years ago along with Imiquimod for Bowens disease on my leg. The treatments only took about twenty minutes each, when the PDT was being done another nurse would keep spraying the area on my leg with ice water which ensured no pain. The only discomfort I felt was when she stopped for a few seconds, it worked so far for me as it hasn't returned thankfully and hope your wife has a good response to it.

I can't help with the change of drugs but I'm someone else can.

Sorry to hear about your wife's recurrence. I'm in the same boat. If the recurrence is in previously treated area, it could mean a change in the way it's treated be of benefit. If the recurrence is outside radiation port, it could mean clear margin is very hard to achieve or we don't know where the margin is. The only thing we can do is chasing our tails and deal with them once they pop up. Although very very frustrating, we just have to deal with it. Best luck to the new treatment plan!
