Wbr unable to eat
Hi, anyone who can share nutritious meals, some liquid some solid.
going in to two months - February 2, since radiation. Still can't manage foods. Thank you. |
Re: Wbr unable to eat
I'm sorry to hear that you are unable to eat. When I was feeling too sick to eat I would drink ice cold vanilla and/or strawberry meal replacement drinks. I got them at Walmart and they were basically the generic version of ensure. I'd drink them through a straw which seemed to help.
I also found that scrambled eggs went down pretty easy. I'd add extra egg whites in order to get extra protein. Cream of wheat, oatmeal, mashed sweet potatoes also seemed to be tolerable. Good luck to you |
Re: Wbr unable to eat
I too am sorry you are having difficulty eating, I found that to be one of the most troublesome problems to overcome during chemo. I knew I had to do it, but just didn't want to. For me, fruit smoothies were tolerable. I made them with vanilla Greek yogurt, frozen fruit, and ice. Here is a link for a nutritious broth that I sipped on too.http://rebeccakatz.com/soups-broths/...mineral-broth/ Wishing you the best.

Re: Wbr unable to eat
I really like the healing foods on a macrobiotic diet. Short grain brown rice, cooked with a little extra water and then put in the blender and eaten like thick soup/porridge. I would do the same thing with oatmeal, and cinnamon. I stay away from animal products because of the high levels of methionine, (Google methionine and cancer) and tend to be more vegan, supplementing vitamin B12. There are lots of green smoothie recipes you can blend together which will go down easier and help you heal.

Re: Wbr unable to eat
So sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I also lost my appetite earlier this month, but it was after surgery. Nonetheless, I had no appetite and I found a ready-made protein drink in the juice section of Safeway. I didn't have the energy to make my own shakes so this worked. I could not get down 8 oz at one time but 4oz was what I could manage. I also stay away from meat and dairy as much as I can (inflammation). But how about soup? Cream of wheat with almond milk? Nuts? Figs and other dried fruit? Fig bars? Egg whites? Peanut butter? Edamame? A I know I am repeating some similar suggestions from above. Just want to help. Please keep us posted.

Re: Wbr unable to eat
Dear Adriana,
I have wondered what was going on with you. So very sorry to hear this. When it was difficult to eat I found applesauce was good. Chicken broth with a little scrambled egg worked as well. Have you tried mashed sweet potatoes with some butter? Maybe pears or frozen yogurt would work in small amounts. I hope you can find some foods that you can tolerate so you can get your strength up. |
Re: Wbr unable to eat
Also try hummus, guacamole/avocado and lentil soup. Are you feeling hungry yet? :)
