Back on TDM1 for now
Even though my last MRI showed new tumor, my oncologist at UPenn wants me back on TDM1, especially since the new growth(s) were ablated. I find out how well the ablation worked on 11/13/13 with an MRI ordered by the IR, another top in his field. Before I went on TDM1 my liver had numerous lesions. My onc feels it's done some good and since it gave me such good quality of life she wants me back on it with a sooner-than-normal scan. I'm also waiting for the results of the screening of the new tumors to see if I qualify for a new study. The new study uses a CDK inhibitor plus herceptin. Beyond that she says we have options, plus she's always been open to liver-directed therapies. In short, I trust her, she's always open to my questions, concerns, and (sometimes) debates LOL.
But since I also have faith in my fellow warriors here, I thought I'd run it by you all to get your input. Any thought, my friends? |

PS. Some of us were having a hard time finding the study on the web. Here's the link:

Re: Back on TDM1 for now
Penny,
That answered my question. I found and posted this one under the clinical trial section. I saw Dr. Slamon is studying PD0332991 with ER positive (luminal) cancers. I see the study is pretty open as far as ER status in this one you are considering. It sounds like your oncologist is doing a great job taking care of you. I'm not the liver mets guru, perhaps mountain girl or cool breeze will have some insight. TDM1 sounds good to me, can you have it with Perjeta? |
Re: Back on TDM1 for now
Yesterday I heard Dr. Slamon speak of this trial and other targeted therapies that are on the horizon. He said, and I quote, "good things are coming, do not give up"

Penny,
My prayers are always with you and you dear doctor. You go girl! How are you feeling? Denise |
Re: Back on TDM1 for now
Thanks for asking. I keep running fevers so I actually feel very blah. :-)

Re: Back on TDM1 for now
Aw Geez...
It's never easy, is it?! :( Keep a close eye on those fevers! Are they as scary as they sound to me? Common side effect? Or are you, once again, an over-achiever? :) Love and cooling, healing prayers headed out! Denise |
Re: Back on TDM1 for now
We're on our way back from Penn. White blood cells a little elevated but could be just a virus. Going on an antibiotic just in case. Back to Penn on Wednesday for chemo. Thank God for all of you. Thanks for the prayers.
