Severe bruising after oophorectomy!!

Hi eveyone I just had both ovaries removed as I'm highly triple positive.
Has anyone had this after their op?? I'm dark purple all round my left hip and down to my thigh and look like I've been in a car crash or something! The incisions are still quite sore too and I had the surgery last Tuesday.Would appreciate any advice on recovery etc and whether this is normal? Thanks!

Hi Trish,

I had a hysterectomy and oophorectomy 2 years ago; I recall some mild bruising but not as you describe. Try posting on hystersisters.com - I found much support and many answers on that site.

I had my ovaries removed about a year ago. I was very sore (like I did thousands of situps - I also had a D&C at the same time). I did not have any bruising like you did. My belly button stitches were sore for awhile but not the ones down low on the sides (where they pop those babies out).

Yours sounds a bit excessive as many of my bc friends in our local support group also had oophorectomies and they seemed better off than me (my gyne told me he had to clean up some scar tissue to get to the ovaries due to having 2 of my 3 children by C-section - hence the undue soreness).

You should start feeling better soon and watch the stitches so they don't get infected.

Kind regards

Becky

Thanks for the responses,my incisions are also sore around my belly button but the other two seem okay.I'll probably call the Gyno if the bruising does'nt get any better but it's nice to hear from other's who have been there.Gloria thanks for the tip on the website and I'll definatly check it out!
Hugs
