Reduced Decadron and Chemo Side Effects

Hi all,

I am gearing up for TCH #3 tomorrow. After the first infusion I had my Decadron dose decreased by half as the speeded up, racey heart, twitchy leg feeling kept me awake all night.

After the second infusion I was experiencing horrific sinus problems that lasted for 2 whole weeks. My onc gave me Augmentin but that really didn't help. I am hoping and praying hard tonight that those sinus problems were due to an actual sinus infection and not a TC side effect that came on because of the decreased Decadron.

I suppose by thursday I will know for sure as I continue with the decreased Decadron dose (8mg daily instead of 16 with all of it dumped in IV on chemo day).

My question is if anyone else has had a side effect like that within two days of the infusion....I am hoping not.

Thanks
Leah

I had weepy eyes and a runny nose, but blamed that on dry eyes and nose from T or C. Nothing like you are describing...heres hoping for fewer side effects for you tomorrow.

Leah,

In the thread 'Please post your two cents on Herceptin "side effects" real or perceived!', running nose has been mentioned.

Below is a link to discussions about running nose on another breast cancer support board:

Thanks Jackie
I was way beyond a runny nose. Sinuses, ears and head clogged. Colorful nasal drainage and an inability to bend over without causing immense head pressure.

You might find some useful information in the thread below: http://her2support.org/vbulletin/sho...in+side+effect

Sounded like you might also have a sinuse infection (the 'colorful' part).

Hi Leah,

I have experienced running nose, and teary eyes. Hope you can find some relief in the coming weeks.

I suggest you visit the page on "herceptin side effects real or perceived" just like Jackie mentioned it in another post, you will find a lot of information on it.

Best of luck,

Adriana

Thanks Ladies,

Having successfully finished infusion #3 I can honestly say the symptoms I experienced last time we due to a cold or sinus infection as this time around it did not happen. Thank God!
Leah
