Silicone Breast Implant ?
I had a double mast with silicone breast implants 7 years ago. Recently I've experience some pain under my breast. Had an X-ray to rule out anything with the rib. Wondering if these implants might be failing, my surgeon doesn't do MRI unless I'm having issues, which I guess I'll have to make an appointment. Trying to rein in all the copayments.
Does anyone have silicone implants older than 7 years? issues with them? |
Re: Silicone Breast Implant ?
My silicone implants are 8 years old (also double mastectomy). I have had some discomfort around my left nipple the past couple of months - I had nipple sparing mast. I do get an MRI every year and still see my oncologist twice a year. Went to see my plastic surgeon just to make sure nothing was wrong and got the all clear.
Btw, my oncologist is the one that requests the MRI. I definitely feel relieved to get the all clear every year based on my history. I hadn’t seen my surgeons for years prior to this last visit. Ask for a breast MRI! Best, Janis |
Re: Silicone Breast Implant ?
Hi, Saw my breast surgeon today and he ordered an MRI. He's not worried but if there is a problem with the implant he would just take it out and replace it. I was concerned about silicone leakage and a possible reoccurrence, which doesn't seem to be the case.
