Excellent news, Seven, wishing you the best best best!
Amanda, how about you put in for it, too? Can your team make a plea on your behalf?
Love
Karen

Re: Pertuzumab not avaliable to stage 4 contrary to what you have heard

I have a meeting with my oncologist on Tuesday. I am awaiting the results of my lung biopsy.
I have a few things on the list. I am fortunate to have a very good contact at Roche (Genentech in Australia) who hinted at the possibility of access to pertuzamab but I don't want to get my hopes too high as I don't understand how I could if there is no TGA approval here - apparently it will depend on my prior treatment. We are struggling to find me a tumor big enough to gain access to the Theresa trial - one radiologist reckons he can, 2 others not. My onc is off at a clinical trials conference this weekend so hopefully she will come back with a couple of good ideas.
I am now on Tykerb only until we have a plan. giving myself a xeloda rest which is pleasant. Hoping to also still have our trip to Italy with the kids which was booked for September but may bring it forward.
I feel calm and well so I am going with that feeling.
Xxx

Re: Pertuzumab not avaliable to stage 4 contrary to what you have heard

7 - sorry you had to wait for it so long! (you would have perhaps had a 2 week washout period also, so maybe that's the silver lining). So glad you are finally getting it! (did you apply for it three weeks ago? Whew... time couldn't have passed slower for those who needed it yesterday!)

Perhaps you could change the title of this thread, or add a disclaimer... as newbies who might be reading the forums need to know that is IS available to late stagers if they need it... It was approved for use by the FDA on June 8, 2012...
