Post mastectomy bra question

Hi all,

I have a question about proper fitting for my post mast bras. I am almost two years out of mast and of course was fitted for bras shortly after surgery. These bras have lasted quite some time, although I usually don't wear them at home. Anyhow, I have gained back the weight I lost during chemo and my left (remaining) breast has gotten larger. I had mentioned this to my docs and have had mammos, sonos and an MRI. By God's Grace all ok so far. I pray they are correct. To make a long story short I went back to the bra place today and the woman told me I went from a 36 C to a 38 D. I just told my 22 year old niece to call me Aunt Dolly from now on (lol). Anyhow, the prostetic is now a 9. It was a 7 before. To be honest I never noticed the number on it until the woman showed me. The bra is so comfortable and as they were out of stock I ordered 3 more of the same. As I removed it this evening I notice that the prostetic sticks out much further than the cup (to the right open side). It is extremey comfortable, but I don't know if they make a size 8 or if that would make any difference. These things are so costly, I am hoping someone here may know more about this so I can discuss this with the saleswoman when I go back to get the other bras. Sorry, I know there is so much more important stuff going on here, but just thought someone could advise. Thoughts and prayers to all.

Sincerely,

Liz J.

Hi, Not sure I can answer your question correctly. I wear two prosthetics. One on each side. Mine are number 5's. I say if what you have is comfortable and looks good thru your clothes don't worry about the number. The people at my bra shop are wonderful and could answer this for you. Make sure you are going to a top of the line place. I have several bras, but only one set of prosthetics. I do have a 2nd set for my swim suit. And sometimes I wear the swim ones for every day.

Hope this helps, Catherine
