Can't feel the lump!!
So I just had my 2nd round of chemo a week ago, and last week decided to finally see if I could still feel the lump (my almost 2cm tumor) and it was gone! I thought I was wrong, or imagining it, but today at the oncologist appt, he did an exam and couldn't feel it either!
Just the thought that this chemo is really working and shrinking that thing makes me so happy - makes up for the bald head, I guess...I just never imagined that I would feel such a noticeable difference so soon. Meeting with surgeon next week to schedule the scan after 3rd round to check for sure on the sizes. Thought maybe if these bad boys were "gone", I could get out of the last rounds of chemo, but oncologist wasn't going for it ;) |
Re: Can't feel the lump!!
No, your oncologist's decision was not a surprise. There are microscopic cells that can't be felt by touching ... Also, cancer stem cells are hard to eradicate by adjuvant therapies such as chemo and radiation.
However, it's still wonderful news that the treatment is effective. Even though there's still a long way to go, do celebrate every little step - especially when it's headed in the right direction. Very happy for you! |

Wonderful news. Your tumor is like the wicked witch of the west - melting.

Re: Can't feel the lump!!
That is wonderful news! I noticed the same thing when I had neoadjuvent TCH--my large tumor was noticably smaller after just the first treatment! I could barely feel it by the time I had surgery, but it was still there. My onc said the same thing--you'll still have to have surgery even if the chemo causes it to go away completely.
Becky, you crack me up! "I'm melting, I'm melting....." Perfect analogy! Shirley |

Going in the right direction! Yeah!
After three treatments of Taxol my two largest and hardest (to the touch) went away and NEVER returned, four years later...good riddance to yours...sounds familiar and GOOD. Karen |
