New Campfire

Hi,
Our old campfire was closed by Post due to spammers.
http://her2support.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=51914
This is unfortunate, because we lost our place to relax by the campfire or hang out and spend time with each other. Link to old campfire.
http://her2support.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=37483
Since the old campfire was a popular place over the years Bill and I decided we need a new campfire.
I found this nice new spot in a beautiful forest near a lovely lake for everyone (except spammers) to enjoy.
I am starting to move the smaller things today and hopefully Bill will follow with the bigger things, so we will be just as comfortable as we were before.
Please come and help me build the fire later today if you have time.
Feel free to drop by to relax by the Campfire if you need time out from your busy schedule or to spend time with friends there. It is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Re: New Campfire

Thanks Elaine & Bill! Great idea. The old spot was getting a little trampled anyway.

I have some dry apple wood I can bring to add to the woodpile.

So, anyone who is feeling a need for sympthetic company, needs cheering up or has a good joke or story to share, follow the HER2 signs down the path to the campfire site.

ElaineM 11-01-2011 09:03 PM

Re: New Campfire

Thanks for the applewood Steph. It will help keep the fire going. Also thanks for making the her2 sign, so our members can find the new campfire.
I am leaving a thermos of green tea and a few snacks for those who spend some time warming themselves by the campfire tonight.

Re: New Campfire

I thought I would bring my breakfast down to the campfire and relax by the fire on a lazy Saturday morning. Anybody want to join me for some cereal, fruit and coffee?
You guys are welcome to bring the scrabble board over here and play by the fire where it is nice and cozy.

Re: New Campfire

I brought some pinecones and pistachios. Both are fun to toss in the fire because they burn really pretty. Of course you eat the pistachios first then just toss in the shell.

by the way does anyone know what time it is? All my clocks say different things:)

StephN 11-06-2011 02:29 PM

Re: New Campfire

I can bring some pinecones too! Good idea, Chrisy. Better than tossing them in our yard waste bin.

I resent most of our clocks before bed last night, so we would not sleep in so much like last year when I forgot!

Sorry I missed breakfast yesterday, Elaine. Had too much garden cleanup to do while weather is holding.

Re: New Campfire

I brought my breakfast down here to sit by the fire and warm up. I brought some Portuguese sweet bread to share. It is very popular in Hawaii.
I am glad to be back online, but I have alot to catch up with. I had problems with the internet server for almost a week. Eventually I will be changing internet servers, but being online makes it easier to look around for a new provider.

ElaineM 11-23-2011 10:30 PM

Re: New Campfire

I just dropped by to sit quietly the night before Thanksgiving and think about my blessings.
I will leave some homemade cranberry sauce in the cooler and some warm squash and pumpkin soup by the fire for whoever drops by. Sorry, no turkey. I am vegetarian. Smile.

Bill's birthday cake. Enjoy

Re: New Campfire

Wow, what a nice new campfire. You gals have that thing raging. It feels really good, warmin' me bones just right. Elaine, thanks for that awesome birthday cake. I know how much willpower it took you lasses not to nip into it while I was away, but here, let's slice that thing up and pass some around. I love the cracklin' of a good fire and the spirited chatter of good company around it. Here's to all of you!

ElaineM 12-16-2011 11:50 AM

Re: New Campfire

Ah that cake was delicious. Good to have you around the campfire again Bill, especially since you built our first one.
I am leaving some "kicked" up oatmeal and coffee on the fire for all to enjoy around the campfire this morning. I have been sitting here relaxing by the fire and eating some oatmeal and having my morning coffee.

Jackie07 12-16-2011 02:52 PM

Re: New Campfire

Thanks, Bill. Here's a belated "Happy Birthday!"

[Special thanks to Elaine who brought the cake. Glad you've kept it fresh in the freezer! :)]

Elaine,
You were not kidding about the "kicked up" oatmeal. Very good !
And your coffee was perfect.
Many thanks.

I will try to come by for a break between getting cards out and the last few gift decisions ... I have some delicious fresh caramels from France to share. The soft kind, easier on your teeth!

I can relate. I have two broken toes at the moment.

Re: New Campfire

I just threw some more logs onto the fire to keep you guys warm if you want to relax by the fire for some down time.
I am also leaving a thermos of hot chocolate for whoever wants to keep even warmer.

Re: New Campfire

Thanks Elaine. I could really use warmth and hot chocolate right now. It is cold in Atlanta!

Re: New Campfire

Hi Gang! Thought I'd drop by to say hello and warm up a little bit. Here, let me toss a stick or two onto the fire.....you know....those sparks... shootin' up there towards that quarter moon remind me of the time when I was camping out in Arizona.... and spotted that shapeshifter just at the edge of our clearing. Have I told that story before? Maybe we should sit around the fire here and swap stories. I would tell it now, but I don't want to tell it if I've already told it. Here, let me stick my little tinfoil packet of almonds and walnuts next to the coals. I'm gonna lay back a bit and let my mind wander off and contemplate God, Man, our places in time and space, and the nature of all things, both real and imagined. If I doze off, someone keep an eye on those nuts and help yourselves when they're nice and crunchy.

ElaineM 01-17-2012 08:17 PM

Re: New Campfire

I ate some of the almonds and walnuts when you were napping, but I did leave some macadamia nuts for you to snack when you wake up.
Good idea about sitting around the campfire sharing stories. Don't worry about telling the same stories. I am sure there will be folks who haven't heard them yet. We all have stories to tell since we all come from different backgrounds and have had different life experiences.
We need to have a weekend or at least a one day camp out. I will bring the marshmallows, coffee and tea for sitting around the campfire and the fixings for a delicious breakfast if others can bring the lunch and dinner fixings.

Hi, I am very new to the website, just recently joined the other day. Just learning how to interact on this site. I love this campfire idea. That is so fun. I eat alot of fish and veggies. So I will bring Salmon in lemon butter with aspargus to cook over the fire, for those who like fish. When are we camping??

ElaineM 01-20-2012 10:39 AM

Re: New Campfire

Thanks for the salmon and asparagus. I like salmon very much. It is the only thing with a face that I eat since I am a vegetarian 99% of the time. With your dinner and my breakfast we have two meals to enjoy.
Bill started the camp and asked us to take care of it when he is not around. We come by to take care of the campfire, bring wood, cook, eat, rest, talk, tell stories, celebrate, pray, meditate and relax when we feel stressed out. It is open all the time. It is very near a nice lake for fishing and swimming and some nice woods for walking.

Re: New Campfire

Yes, it is very peaceful. I am going to spend some time there this weekend. Feel like I could use some peace!!

ElaineM 04-01-2012 11:11 AM

Re: New Campfire

I just came down to relax in the hammock and enjoy the spring flowers starting to bloom near the campfire.
It is nice and peaceful here with only the birds singing and the wind blowing gently through the trees.
There is a thermos of herbal tea near the fire for whoever drops by.

Hey Bill
Are you out there in cyberspace?
I think it is time for us to go clean up the campfire for the summer. Can you please help me? I will bring some snacks if you bring the clean up equipment. Do we have a deal?
Thanks.

Bill 06-07-2012 04:44 PM

Re: New Campfire

Hi everybody! Yes, Elaine, we have a deal! This place looks pretty good, actually. You've been doing a good job keeping it straight. Let me gather up some of this storm debris and we can use it for kindling. I'm going to take my bow saw and cut up some of the larger pieces while I snack on the sweet fruits you guys have brought. It's good to see you guys.

It is great to see you too Bill. It has been awhile. Thanks for your help. I am going to clean up some of the leaves and straighten up a bit too. Here is a big thermos of ice tea for the clean up crew.

Hello Ladies! Thought I'd stop by and poke the fire a bit. I've been missing y'all. Sometimes I come to the edge of the clearing here and look in just to make sure you're ok, then I'm off again, but this time I want to sit the night, I think. I'm tired. I've lit my candle for Brenda and I think I'll just sit here with my girls and watch some sparks fly. It's a good night.

Becky 09-27-2012 03:27 PM

Re: New Campfire

Hey Bill

Its's comforting to know that you are here for us always when we need you. It is a nice night to sit by the fire with a beer and reflect. Thanks for being here, Bill.

Thanks for being here Bill. A good night to just sit and contemplate. Praying for our dear Brenda, Jeanette

Re: New Campfire

I just stumbled across this site, probably when I need it the most. I'd like to sit by the fire and just hang out for awhile. I recently found out that the Herceptin I'd been getting for the past three years is no longer working and my bone mets is progressing. Last week, I was switched to Xeloda and Tykerb, but had to stop taking it after the first week due to stomach pain. I hope to restart it next week. I'm trying hard not to feel sorry for myself. I just want to raise my 12 and 14 year olds and see them settled in life. Hope that isn't too much to ask. Anyway enough whining, I just threw a log on the fire and enjoying good company.

ElaineM 09-27-2012 09:08 PM

Re: New Campfire

Thanks for keeping an eye on us Bill. I am very glad you are doing that. Enjoy your rest by the campfire tonight.
I am here for a little while too.

Welcome Pwiswell. Relax by the fire with us anytime.

Re: New Campfire

Hi all,
I thought I would come to the campfire and get it cleaned up and ready for spring this weekend. Bill if you are available the outhouse needs a few repairs.
I also want to put a few healing herbs in the window boxes of the outhouse instead of flowers.
So, I am going to light a little fire and make a nice pot of veggie chili with some rice to cook slowly for dinner
before I put up the hammock and take a nap. There is a thermos of hot tea for anyone who drops by since the air is still a bit chilly today.

Bill 03-13-2013 06:20 PM

Re: New Campfire

Hi Gang! Elaine, that veggie chili sounds great. It smells really good simmering over that little fire. I'll just be over here tinkering with the outhouse boards if you need me. It's good to see you again. I brought a little box of Do-Si-Dos if you guys want any. Help yourselves.

ElaineM 03-17-2013 06:05 PM

Re: New Campfire

Thanks for dropping by to help Bill. We will have this place in shape for all the enjoy before summer.

Bill 12-17-2013 08:42 PM

Re: New Campfire

I thought I'd stop by and throw a few branches on the fire and stoke it up a bit. Elaine loved it here. Every time I stopped in, she was here, poking the fire and humming to herself. I can sneak up on anyone, believe me, but not Elaine. As soon as I got near, she would shout out, "Hello, Bill! Welcome back!" and I would respond, "Hello, Mother Nature!" and we would laugh and sit poking the fire until others showed up to join us. She had an indescribable quality that will last through countless campfires and stars shooting across the midnight sky. Elaine will be at every campfire I'm ever at from now on. Please join me and throw a branch on the fire for Elaine, as a tribute.
