How long can herceptin/tykerb work?

Been on herceptin/ 1500mg daily tykerb since may...what experience does everyone have with the length of time before it stops working?

Hi,

I started Herceptin & 5 pills (1250mg) Tykerb in April 2011. For the first month I was on and off Tykerb due to severe hive. I restarted Tykerb from 2 pills in May, and then increased the dose little by little up to 5 pills until Aug. 2011. During those months my body could adjust with Tykerb without developing the hive. I've continued H&T, but have added Taxol since May 2012 due to mets in lungs, and so far this comb is effective.

Kassy's BC history
May 2010 Dx: 2.4 cm ER -/ PR - HER2 3+ Stage 3

Sep 2010 Mastectomy, 13/21 lymph nodes involved
Oct 2010 Herceptin + Navelbine
Mar 2011 Lymph nodes biopsy surgery 3/3 cancerous
Apr 2011 Herceptin+ Tykerb
Apr 2012 mets in mediastinal lymph nodes; now stage 4 ;(
May 2012 added Taxol to Herceptin &Tykerb
Jun 2012 CT showed decrease in the size of mediastinal and right hilar lymph adenopathy
Aug 2012 CT showed no significant mediastinal or hilar adenopathy!

Response (and resistance) to Herceptin and other therapies varies from person to person. It is one of the reason why, as a group, we are lucky to have several alternative therapies to try.

So there is no average time to be on this combination before it stops working?
