Margetuximab is very similar to trastuzumab and both are sort of indirect immunotherapy. From the immune aspect, Margetuximab is design specifically to attract (more than herceptin) immune cells, particularly in patients that have CD16A-158F variant immune cells. About 80-85% of breast cancer patients have this. Also there are data that it works to some degree in patient with her2 low. It’s only approved together with chemo. I am perplexed about this chemo requirement, since chemo typically suppressed the immune system.
