Diastolic Dysfunction, EF
Just read my echocardiogram results. ( online ) Hmmmm......
Will talk with my dr. tomorrow, but for now, anyone have any thoughts/experiences with this: EF 55% estimate (it's an echo, not a MUGA) Stage 1 Diastolic dysfunction (I am 48, none of the listed "causes" applies to me). How does this affect treatment, if at all? AC x 4 , Taxol x 4 Herceptin regimen I am doing more research..... but would appreciate hearing from any one thanks!! |
Re: Diastolic Dysfunction, EF
Be sure you talk to your Onc and also a cardiologist. ECHO's are now thought to be superior to Muga's. Everyone is different, so even though you don't think the 'causes' apply to you, they might. There are meds that your cardiologist can prescribe for you, namely Lisonopril which is an ace inhibitor (which I can take) and Coreg which is a beta blocker (which I am not allowed to take as I have low blood pressure).
A 55 is not bad. Usually us Herceptin girls hover over 50%. For TDM1, I have to have a 50 or over. You are good, I think. And when you are done with Herceptin, your LVEF should recover over time. |

Paula,
Fear not! Check out this thread: http://her2support.org/vbulletin/sho...ceptin+holiday Many of us have fought the low ejection fraction battle and come through it all fine...you're still good at 50%, but if the need should arise for you to beat this problem I'm sure you will too. You're young. You're healthy...except for that pesky cancer thing. I hope reading through that thread helps. And, I hope you're weathering your second round of AC well! Denise |
