Finally! Shrinkage!

Haven't seen the report, not even sure it's final, but I got a phone call last night with the GOODNEWS that the chemo/akt/herceptin regimen I'm on - which has been kicking my butt - is also kicking cancer butt! Maybe back to where I was about the end of October 11.

This is the first time in over a year that we've gotten "good" news about a scan. No wonder my hubby is a basket case!

Welcome back, Costanza!

and yes, God is good, all the time.

Way TO GO! That downstream inhibitor seems to be having the right effect, along with the Taxol and Vitamin H.

In my case, it was a 3 drug approach that put me to NED. So, it seems to make a lot of sense to me.

Keep up the good work and maybe they will let you drop the kick-ass Taxol soon.

SO glad to hear your news, Chris. I've been noticing how quiet you've been and each day, hoping to see something from you.

I wish that it was only the cancer suffering, and not you too -- to achieve these results! But still, wonderful news.

When you feel up to it, maybe you'll tell us what the side effects are like, and how you'd compare them to other combos you've done. How others in the trial are faring, gossip like that?

Lots of love and good thoughts,
Debbie Laxague

Congratulations! Wonderful news! As I look at your signature it appears that I am following closely in your treatment/response times. You have probably outlined this before, but can you remind me what the AKT trial is? I'm currently still responding to TDM1, but just wanted to check out future options.

Re: Finally! Shrinkage!

Del,
The akt trial I am in as a phase I study of an akt pathway inhibitor ( a growth pathway that is "downstream" from the Her2 pathway) plus taxol plus (if you are her2+), Herceptin. Although the study I'm in is a dose escalation study, they are already at the maximum tolerated dose and just expanding people in at that level.

The akt agent is a drug called MK2206 and is an oral medication. It has been in various early phase trials for a little while in several types off cancer, including breast.
