Sxsw 2015

I'm sure some of you know what SXSW is - it's a big technology/film/music conference in Austin. Last year Lady Gaga gave the keynote speech and Edward Snowden skyped in. There are many panel discussions on a wide variety of topics, many related to technology and issues in today's world.

I have been asked to speak along with a partner. My topic would be obviously, what we need to do in today's modern day to get a cure for cancer. I'd talk about patient empowerment and technology (which is what we are doing here) and other things.

Because they want discussions that are of interest to many, there is a voting process.

If you could vote for me I would be grateful.

To do that, start by going here:

https://auth.sxsw.com/users/sign_in

Create your account. (You won't get spam!)

They will send you a confirmation email.

Once you click on confirm, you can vote for me here:

http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/vote/40477

To vote, click on the thumbs up icon on the upper left. You can vote daily, although that's asking a lot!

Also, when you click on the page you can see a conversation below the video (which is going to be changed to better reflect the topic). Feel free to join the conversation, make a comment, ask a question or share your idea about what a cure for cancer should look like in 2014. Make your voice heard. I will incorporate your ideas into what I say as I would be representing cancer patients.

You can also join my facebook group. It is not specifically for HER2 or even cancer patients. https://www.facebook.com/ButdoctorIhatepink But that is where I will post reminders, questions about what you all think about today, technology, cancer, etc.

Because I'm NED and cannot work, I am finding things to do and this is something new and interesting. I was asked if I wanted to do it and I have never spoken in public before and have no idea if I even can. But the lesson of cancer for me has been not to say "no" so quickly. I was a NO person, because I was afraid of everything. And now, I try to say yes, first instinct. What's the worst that can happen, I tell myself? After all I've been through the past few years, how bad can speaking in public (or whatever) be?

Anyway, I won't bring this subject up again here, but I am grateful for the chance I have to mention it. Please like my facebook page and then you can get reminders to vote more often.

*hugs* to all my cancer friends.
