headaches
I've been waking up with a headache every day for about a week. Sometimes it gets better during the day, sometimes not, so I'm going to get a brain MRI. I also have symptoms of sinusitis so I'm going to see an ENT doctor on Monday. Prayers for me and family would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: headaches

Re: headaches
Dear Penny -
When is the MRI? Then we can really target the prayers. If you can, try to log the specifics of your headaches. Are you taking anything and does that help? For how long? Have you noticed any other changs such as in balance, digestion, vision or anything else? The ENT may want to CT your sinus area or take a culture. Is it clear when you blow your nose? Good luck with all the testing. I have had all that and more. If it is a sinus problem there are lots of ways to treat those. |
Re: headaches
May you not join the Brain Mets club, but if you do, please email me. It is not as bad as it was five years ago and your doctor may not know that.
I will tell you that Sunday night everyone on both planes had sinus issues. Here's to antibiotics and sinus meds making the problem go away. |
Re: headaches
Thanks, everyone. The MRI is scheduled for 8:15 in the morning, right before my 9am chemo.
Some things help a bit, but the headache seems to always be there, as a dull ached. Aspirin, sudafed, excedrin, even ativan. No changes in balance, vision, or digestion. However, my right ear has been clogged for weeks. I can really feel the pressure. Onward & upward, right? |

Fabulous news, Red! I knew it would be so. Glad to have it be definitive.
I wanted to say, I awake stuffy and remain so all day -- if I sleep on only 1 pillow. I have a variety of choices (hard, foam with roundedness top and bottom, mushy). Each night I test and find the right fit, as it changes. Also, if I don't do this, I get pain (only when lying down) in the arm where they removed 21 lymph nodes. It's a positional thing. I take 2 Benedryl every night. Oh, and AYR, a saline spray to put in the nostrils, if all else fails, is wonderful. Doc told me it is harmless and can be used as often as I like. If I get plugged up feeling in my head, I do 2 sprays in each nostril. And then blow into a tissue. I keep doing that till the stuff breaks up in there and can be blown away. Works miracles! (Run the spritzer under hot water after each use...) Be well. Stay well... Andi |
Re: headaches
Or a Neti pot (keep it clean) but its wonderful.

Re: headaches

Yes, Neti is fabulous! (I only use it when I'm drippy. When I'm dry clogged I go for AYR...) Becky you always have great responses!
We rule, people. Headaches are out. Take charge... Oh, I heard on Dr. Oz from an Ayurvedic (??sp) doc that using coconut oil -- rubbed into scalp and feet and then showered off -- will hasten the relief of inflammation causing a bad headache. (I gave that tip to my dghtrs who suffer from migraines...) |
Re: headaches
One of the few times where having a cold or sinus infection makes you feel relieved. Keep out of the brain mets club.
