Been a long day-feeling better!
Well, I went in for my treatment this morning and the doctor heard my cough and how short of breath I was and thought I had pneumonia. He ordered a chest x-ray and than sent me for a thoracentesis. They drew off 1200 ml of fluid (5 cups). Needless, to say I am feeling better and my cough is gone. So it turned out I did not pick up a bug going around here. Now, we will see if it contains cancer cells which my oncologist says, "he is worried it will". The fluid was clear yellow no blood in it and the radiologist said that is good. Lots going on here with me. I will see the surgeon next week about getting the port removed ( it is surround with tumor from the skin mets). He does not want it accessed and my veins are about gone. Will decide where to place it when I see the surgeon. Will probably need a plastic surgeon for a graft to the area. Than, depending on what the fluid shows, try to decide if we will continue with the Doxil or try something else. I will keep you updated. Guess, it is my turn for a turn of events! hugs, Sandy

Hold those vacation memories ...
... of the sunny and warm Florida coast as you tackle this next round of tests and treatment. Perhaps they will use the brachial (sp?) artery in the underside of your upper arm. Some of the gals here have mentioned having that site and they say it works well. Hopefully that is far enough away from any skin mets.
Your faith will see you through - it may just get a little bumpier along the way. Just conserve your energy for the "big stuff" and let the rest fall by the wayside. Sending you a {{{big cyberhug}}} |
Sandy,
I am sorry that you are going through this. Saying prayers for no cancerous cells in your lung fluid. I hope that your surgery to remove and replace your port goes smoothly. Hugs, Lexi |
Crud! I'm just sending very bad vibes towards any cancer cells you may harbor. Squash them. Hope all your news is OK to good. BB
|
Gosh Sandy, wish I knew what to say to make you feel better. I will pray for you that the fluid is clear of any cancer cells, and that your port removal and new site will go smoothly. You are a special person to everyone, especially to this site. You are getting lots of prayers, and I know that the Lord is in control.

Love from me to you, Mary Jo |
I hope that lung fluid is cancer free. A lot of lung complaints down here in Delaware this time of year due to change of season -- I hope that's what this is.

I will think positive thoughts for you....
NO NO NO this will not be bad news for you Sandy. You need to wear those green shoes out.
I am so sorry you had to go through all of this. You stay strong my friend and my prayers will stay strong for you too. Pls let me know how you are doing and results from your test. Take care. |
Wow Sandy, you are strong. You give me strength. I hope all the doctors you are seeing are something "good" to look at. It's always nice to have something nice to look at. Hope that made you smile.
|
Sandy, I was so sad to read your recent turn of events. Please keep your chin up and stay strong. I'm keeping you in prays and send a big cyber hug.

Sandy,
How blissful not to feel short of breath any more, but now the wait for news must be tough. Hope you're keeping well distracted, and getting out into some lovely warming Spring sunshine this weekend, and that you can reach out for a hug if a fearful moment creeps up on you. There's a lot to be said for keeping busy! I'm keeping you in my thoughts and sending you strength, we're all here with you, holding you in our hearts. Love to you, keep in good spirits Caroline |
Sandy, hope your news is positive! I have my port in the inner part of my right arm. It's about chest level, in the part facing my body.
I've had it for over 3 years now, and have not had any problems with it, perhaps you might want to look into it? |
what the heck
Sandy! It makes me crazy, this turn of events. I'm so sorry there is all of this going on. I am glad that your chest is feeling better and you are not coughing anymore. I'm PRAYING and PRAYING that the fluid is just fluid. I'm wishing you good luck with port relocation. AND I'm so impressed and inspired by your attitude and grace and humor. Thank you for sharing your beauty and gifts with us.
p.s. I had an arm port 7 years ago and it also worked fine. |
Hi sandy,
Just want to send my most loving thoughts to you this evening. Praying for a B9 report on the lung fluid! Marcia |
