WOW, WOW, is all I can say!!!!
This is my third day on the Doxil and Wow! My skin met nodules are taking a beating!! I had my first treatment Friday afternoon and by Saturday night the nodules were on fire big time. Last night it felt like a knife cutting them out-had to take a pain pill to sleep. They have started to soften and have gone from a purple to a pink. This is so new for me I am so overwhelmed not sure what to think at this point except that I hope they are being poisoned, burned, and will die a horrible death! Now, how is that for thinking? I am more short of breath when up and moving around so hopefully, the pleura effusion is not getting worse but will watch and see what happens. I am not far from the hospital so if I need to go I can and will go. I thought it would be better by now with the way the nodules are acting. Will keep you all updated as this all matures. hugs, Sandy

WOW! again
Oh! Sandy, this is such great news that you can actually feel and SEE a difference in those nodules so quickly. I have heard that Doxil is a good drug for several stubborn cancers, so glad to find out it is so far effective in your case.
Are you off the Tykerb now or is this in combo?? Keep a watch on the shortness of breath. I got one of those good heart monitor watches so I can match my heart rate with my breathing and see if they correlate when I am active. I has been a good thing for me to see how my heart and lungs are working. |
AWSOME NEWS Sandy...
prayers will continue. Take care and God bless. BIGGGG huggs.

Take THAT you stinky old skin mets!
Reading your post I got this great image of Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz tossing water on Elphaba-the Green Wicked Witch of the West! Remember, Elphaba gave one, last ear-piercing SHRIEK before melting away to nothing!
Hang in there, Sandy! Rest well, heal well~ |
Sandy,
I think once those nasty nodules are gone (and they will be) you should buy a pair of red shiny shoes and click those heels. Will continue to keep you in my prayers. Hugs, jean |
The 'wicked witch of the west' was my image too -- melting 'wicked witch mets'.... How amazing that you can SEE what is happening.
All the best!!! May this kick their virtual butts!!! |
I am off Tykerb for good as we feel I was getting toxic from it, being so ill the last few days of taking it. The Xeloda never did much for me as I had been on that before. hugs, Sandy
|
I, too, have a visual of those nasty skin mets shrieking one last terrible time as they melt away into nothingness!!! Keep us posted!!!
|
Hi Sandy,
Let's hope that this is a sign for those mets to be knocked into remission. Best wishes, Barbara H. |
I'm happy for you Sandy. Sounds like the Doxil is doing the trick. Yahoo!
Hugs - Mary Jo |
Great news Sandy! I am so relieved to hear this, and wow! is right, seeing IS believing!

Hi Sandy,
Great news - sounds like the Doxil is doing the trick - hope the pain is better for you though... but I imagine you can manage it as you can actually see those nodules are being destroyed. All the best Caya |
Awesome! I find it so amazing you can FEEL the changes! Wish it were that way with all these nasty meds, then we'd know for sure they're doing their jobs....HI-5, Sister!

I am so sorry. Here are so ((((HUGGS)))
Rendi |
Sandy, It sounds like that Doxil is making you a bit misrable....but at the same time I got a kick out of your comment that you are hoping your skin nodules die a horrible death. haha From the sounds of it...I think there is a very good chance of that. Maybe this will be the ticket to knock those down once and for all.
Sorry to hear about your breathing problem...I dealt with that once and it was very un-comfortable to say the least. But things did improve and I hope they do for you soon. You be careful and take good care of yourself. May that Doxil continue kicking come nodules butts. :) Hang in there. Sending warm healing thoughts and prayers your way. Chelee |
Sandy, Sounds like the Doxil is doing its thing! Praying that this will take care of the skin mets for good!
|
Sending postive vibes your way~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~:)
|
Sandy, I am so glad to hear that the Doxil is working wonders. I'll keep praying for you.

Hope those nodules fry. I'm picturing more of a star wars light sabre end to them. Hang in there, Bev
|
Sandy,
I was so happy to read your post today!!! I was reading your other post to my husband and it was nice to tell him about your changes. May the Doxil continue to do it's thing but I think it's your awesome attitude. We should all take note. I will keep you in my prayers for I know the Lord never gives us more than we can handle. God Bless you !!! |
Be Gone Mets!
Yeah, Sandy! I'm sending you constant prayers. I start Tykerb/Xeloda and now wonder if it will do anything for me. I have been off treatment for 6 weeks and the mets are growing..... Let me know how you are doing. I'm imagining those nasty mets disappearing as I send this to you. I pray the Doxil is doing a good job of getting rid of those nasty creatures....Much love, Vickie

Sandy, I had no idea that you were having these treatments. Your smiling face fooled me. I thot you were out of treatment. I find it difficult to keep up with everone's story. Anyway....glad you are giving the nodules the heave ho. Now what are nodules? How embarrassing to be so dumb. All the very best to and the rest of our pals.

Sandy-
It's amazing to hear how quickly things can start working... I hope doxil does the trick for you. Regards, |
My prayers are with you, Sandy. I hope this Doxil continues to kick hell out of those skin cancer cells and that they'll never dare to bother you again. If anyone deserves good fortune, you do.
God bless you. Taffy. |
Thanks Tricia but I wish the Lord would not depend on me so much!!!! I don't like to have my plate running over all the time. It would be nice to see my feet! hugs to you all. Sandy

Dear Sandy, Its so wonderful seeing the "smile" in your post! Praying you can keep the good news coming..
Hugs,Marcia Sandy..I didnt see the second posting of yours...I am so sorry that you've been made to feel so ill. I am hoping things "level out" for you and the Doxil xontinues to attack the skin mets! Big hug, marcia |
Sandy - toxic from Tykerb?
Sandy,
Would you mind expanding on what you mean by Tykerb becoming "toxic" for you? With hope for continued healing. Amy |
Sorry that the Doxil is making you feel badly, but hoping its got all the cancer cells on the run! I enjoy your posts and your positive attitude. God is in control and you can lean and depend on Him.
Easter blessings and hugs! |
Dear Sandy
i am so happy the doxil is working for you. I did not know you were suffering with pleural effusioon. How was the Tykerb toxic? I have started the Imiquimod treatement and the skin mets are getting red and other s are bleeding. this is ok as it means the T cell thing is being activated - apparently. Not sure what to expect next - in unchartered territory. love Linda |
Hi Sandy,
How do you like Doxil? I have been on it since December. It has been easy for me to tolerate. I have some mouth soars for a few days and dry hands and feet. I had my pleural effusion drained in December. It feels so much better not having all that pressure around my lungs. It isn't very painful. It was just hard not to breathe when they inserted and removed the tube. I had almost a full litre removed and they didn't remove all of it. There is a slim chance your lung will collapse if they take all the fluid. Take care. Lu Ann |
I am not having any problems with the Doxil-just lots of pain with the skin mets which is very new for me. I e-mailed my oncologist and he said it is slow acting and it will take 2 to 3 doses before we will know if it is working. I am use to the Taxol working fast with visual changes. The Doxil works from the inside out and so it would make sense that if it is killing those skin mets they would be painful. He did make me feel better as I was concern it wasn't working and we still are not sure it is. Its wait and see as usual. One day at a time. As for the effusion its small and not enough to drain off. Plus, I think I pick up a small bug from my husband so that has made things worse with a dry throat and cough. So its drink lots, lots of fluid, eat well and rest. For those that want to know about the Tykerb I was feeling ill about an hour after taking it and gradually feeling worse as the day went on. Felt like I wanted to roll up and die. Once I stopped it I was fine. Nothing, that should stop anyone from trying it. My body has a way of telling me when it has had enough! hugs, Sandy
