Life can turn on a dime
Life can turn on a dime.
Last week I found a shiny new dime. My father died the next day. I finally got to a Gastroenterologist (sp) yesterday after months of belly area pain. Looks like I'm headed for the hospital soon. Something is wrong between the liver and the gall bladder, possibly a clogged bile duct. And possibly with cancer cells. His very mention of the words cancer and metastatic threw me for a loop. It was the first feeling of fear in a long while. This doc is young, smart, caring, but needs just a WEE bit more bedside manner. Or I need to be a LOT tougher. At any rate, surgery is around the corner. I'll keep you posted, Love and light, Lisa |
Dear Lisa,
I wish you didn't have this to face so soon after losing your dad. Sometimes the curves come up a little fast and sharp, eh? I'll be keeping you and Mel in my thoughts and prayers. <3 Lolly |
Lisa,
Just out of curiosity, how does he know that it is the bile duct that is clogged? Did you have some scans? You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Karen |
Lisa,
Sorry to hear about your dad. Here's hoping your medical problem isn't serious. all the best sarah |
Lisa...
Prayers are coming your way. Take care and God bless.

Praying that it is only a clogged duct. Please keep us informed.

Hopefully it's only a gall stone! Hoping only good things for you.

Hi Lisa,
You have had just too too much to deal with lately. I hope that all goes well with this latest ordeal. My thoughts are with you and please keep us updated. Barbara H. |
Prayers and best wishes are being sent your way from me, too. I hope it turns out to be something simple. It is time you had a big break! Hugs, Tricia

All the best to you. I hope it's just one of those routine problems we all have to deal with...like a gallstone. MJO

You are scared. and i understand. I also lost my dad recently and I'm going to see a bone oncologist this wednesday ( very scary).
Don't you just want to scream ENOUGH, STOP. I also have a doc with little bedside touchy feely manners. I think they say cancer everyday to lots of folks, and so the sensitivity of the word is lost. Good luck MCS ( maria) |
Lisa,
You are so strong and so kind.....Just think very positive regarding your coming surgery... As far as the loss of your Dad....It is so difficult when we no longer have our beloved parents. Both my parents have passed and each day I miss them, but they remain in our hearts and are always with us. I hope this thought will offer some ease at this challenging time for you. Sending you much love. Jean |
The "H" word
"Hospitals" are not fun - having just been in one that is very good, but the discomfort of surgery of any kind is enough to make most of us afraid. But, to me you are afraid of what they might find in the worst case. I know this feeling very well.
We think we are tough after a long bout with this disease, but each new phase hits us just as hard as the last one. When is the surgery date?? This week?? Let us know so that all of us will focus our prayers your way. The comfort will be in the KNOWING. |
Lisa~
Praying for you & your family...and you don't "need to be a LOT tougher" - you've already proven that you are more than tough enough! Just hang in there...& know that whatever comes your way, you have the tools, support, courage, & everything else you need to get through it. I hope you find a doc/surg that you respect and trust and LIKE!And it's not too much to ask for ALL of these things. I had my liver resection last December & I had/have complete respect & trust in my surgeon-for his skill, compassion & the respect he showed for ME and the difficult decisions I had to make. I hope you find the same in your doc. (PS-my surgeon is a Surgical Onc. that specializes in cancers in the peritoneal cavity-liver,stomach,intestines, etc.I'd recommend that you look for someone with specific expertise.) Prayers, Faith & Courage~ Jess |
Lisa, Thinking about you lots and stay positive.........You've been through lots but have always managed to stay on top. Just make sure they have a good reason for the surgery.
Love Al |
