Bill's 1000th Post Haiku Contest

Friends:

AS many of you know, Bill has recently made his 1000th post. As an honor to Bill's selfless devotion and his dedication to this forum and to his wife, Nicola, I would ask all of Bill's friends or anyone who Bill has helped to post a Haiku or short poem to honor Bill.

(A Haiku is a Japanese poem that has three lines, the first line has five syllables, the second line has seven syllables, and the third line has five syllables.)

Thanks Bill.

True love is unconquerable and irresistible,
and it will go on gathering power and
spreading itself until it transforms everyone
it touches

Oh Lee, I just re-read your thread. This is a contest??? So it is to be an original?
Oh well.... you can void mine out then I guess.....
Maybe I will try again later.

Bill's 1000th Post

I am not good at poems or haiku, but my thoughts are full of thankfulness that Bill is one of us !!

Colleens_Husband 07-27-2008 11:56 AM

I don't think this should be a contest, how about more of a tribute. I suggested the Haiku form because sometimes having some structure really helps creativity.

Bill

Heartfelt compassion.

Reaching, comforting, lifting.

Our Brother, our Bill

juanita 07-27-2008 05:14 PM

bill bill he's the man
full of loving, caring, joy
what a friend to have

PinkGirl 07-27-2008 05:51 PM

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Sugar is sweet
And so are you.

I just made this up ... I swear.

chrisy 07-28-2008 08:50 AM

Pink Girl,
It's sweet, but it isn't a haiku

chrisy 07-28-2008 08:52 AM

Nikki's gift to us
Bill - laughing, caring, sharing
his cupcakes of love

chrisy 07-28-2008 08:55 AM

Nikki's gift to us
Bill - fighting, giving us strength
I am so grateful

PinkGirl 07-28-2008 10:18 AM

Chrisy,
Is that streng-th ?

Vi Schorpp 07-28-2008 10:19 AM

My Haiku

Nicola and Bill
Symbiotic mates for life
Apart, but nearby.

What a great love and admiration the two of you had for each other. Very refreshing.

PinkGirl 07-28-2008 10:37 AM

Roses are red-ish
Some vi-o-lets are blue-ish
Sugar Bill is sweet

Vi Schorpp 07-28-2008 10:42 AM

Pink Girl

I think you missed your calling!

PinkGirl 07-28-2008 10:56 AM

Thank you Vi. I always try to do my best. ;)

Vi Schorpp 07-28-2008 11:16 AM

Try this Tanka

a Japanese poem with 31 syllables in 5 lines, with 5 syllables in the 1st and 3rd lines, and 7 syllables in the others.

Here's mine:

Bill and Nicola
Sharing life as man and wife
Loving so deeply
Some people never have this
They did -- for eternity!

Vi Schorpp 07-28-2008 11:24 AM

Bill

Didn't mean to intrude on your haiku thread, the tanka suggestion was for PinkGirl since she has such a gift with this!

PinkGirl 07-28-2008 11:35 AM

Vi, tanks for the new format

Roses are red-ish
Some vi-o-lets are blue-ish
Sugar is sweet-ish
Bill's cupcakes kind of small-ish
But still better than spray cheese.

Vi Schorpp 07-28-2008 11:42 AM

PinkGirl

You're quick! Amazing how you catch on.

Bill 07-28-2008 03:04 PM

Y'all are the greatest
Thank you so much my sweet friends
Heaven smiles at you

kcherub 07-28-2008 03:47 PM

(A Haiku is a Japanese poem that has three lines, the first line has five syllables, the second line has seven syllables, and the third line has five syllables.)

Bill is a man who
spreads love, joy and happiness
to me and my "girls"

Okay, not my best work. If I could add two more syllables to the last line, I would say...and "boys". :)

Take care,

Bill 07-28-2008 04:21 PM

Hey guys, especially Lee, and all of my friends here (too numerous to name, but you know it's all of you), you guys are too much, and laying it on too thick. I really appreciate all of your kind words, but, really, all I've done here is type 1000 posts. Many of them were very short. You guys are all the ones that deserve the accolades. It really means alot to me how much you cared for Nicola, as she cared for you. Thank you, my friends

hutchibk 07-28-2008 04:53 PM

We heard Bill was Lee
or Lee, Bill?
And we still don't know

hutchibk 07-28-2008 04:57 PM

I bet nicola
laughs when we
tease her sweetheart Bill

hutchibk 07-28-2008 05:00 PM

I am on a roll
will someone
please make me stop now

hutchibk 07-28-2008 05:01 PM

I count syllables
and am nuts
someone please help me

hutchibk 07-28-2008 05:02 PM

I am so hungry
I must eat
I will see you soon.

Sheila 07-29-2008 05:35 AM

Heartfelt posts from Bill
Read and enjoyed by all here
Now where are my cupcakes Bill?

hutchibk 07-29-2008 07:24 AM

Oops, I did 5, 3, 5... not 5, 7, 5 -

what is that? A Low-ku?

Colleens_Husband 07-29-2008 10:27 AM

Brenda:

It's your own thing Haiku Lite. I like it.

Lee

hutchibk 07-29-2008 11:25 AM

Thanks, Lee. I know some who might call it Low-IQ, but I like Low-ku, or Lo-co might fit better.
