FOB,

I totally understand how you feel. My 2+ cm recurrence was not found (by myself)until four years after the initial lumpectomy. I was getting sicker each year, losing all my teaching jobs as an intern. Even at the last mammagram (before the bilateral mastecomy) the technician still was telling us it was 'just' scar tissue.

I think the medical practitioners need to curb their ego and start to face the ugliness of Her2 BC. I don't believe for a second that any of us would put 'beauty' before the risk of cancer recurrence.

Ever since my hysterectomy/oophorectomy, my (facial) skin has been great (always a sign of illness when my lips were chapped)and I've been feeling so much better. I hope (and believe) that you will become so much healthier after your next surgery.

flynny--did you mother also have her2+ breast cancer?

Was she treated with herceptin? did it have any effect on her MS?

Full of questions, aren't I?

Genetic researchers seem mostly interested in BRCA1/2 breast cancer even though it only makes up a tiny percentage of inherited breast cancer.

Perhaps it might be worthwhile for them to see if some her2+ breast cancer is inherited and better understand the mechanisms perturbed eg, there may be an X linked form that alters Fox P3 a gene involved in the immune system

The more questions that are asked the more ideas the researchers may get
