RB, congratulations! I can't wait to read your book. By the way, what do you think of the "Smart Balanced" products? (wink)

RB, congratulations on the completion of your book! I read the synopsis and it is very interesting. I quite honestly know very little beyond the fact that Omega 3s are suppose to be good for you. I will pick up your book and educate myself and hopefully it will improve my life and preformance even more.

Hi all,

No best seller at the moment I am afraid. )-:

I hate asking but if any body who bought it has read the book and found the book useful I would be REALLY grateful for positive reviews on Amazon.com or .co.uk. (-:

Very many thanks

Dear RB -
I was just talking with my sister earlier today about your book, which she ordered from Amazon. I asked her if there were any reviews and she told me "no."

The description there was extrememly interesting to my sis who is being treated for her arthritis in her hands with acupuncture. I have had no time to finish it myself.

Thanks for the reply Steph,

If you need more trial refs on arthritis please P or Email me. I have lots more info.

I am being a bit optimistic I know - it is pretty information dense and not light reading - an it is not yet two weeks old - I just had a moment of doubt.

Again thanks for taking the trouble to reply

A quick question for R.B. Did you have HER2+ breast cancer?

Just wondered, as clearly good nutrition is fundamental here.

No, I found the board whilst researching breast cancer - fate - and got onto the subject of fats. Other sites provided good information but is was positive to be able to post and interact. I found posting and sharing a positive experience and the responses helped shape the directions I looked in. Searching on diet BC and fats lead into wider areas that eventually turned into the idea of a book - fate maybe.

Thank you for responding, R.B.

Personally, I believe by taking flaxseed and flaxseed oil prior to diagnosis, I unwittingly saved my life. In theory, my (weakly) HER2+ breast cancer should have gone walkabout, but it hadn't (thankfully), and I can only put this down to taking the above supplements which are supposed to be inhibitors of this type of cancer.

Thank you for taking the trouble to post. It is really difficult to get people to understand how hugely influential on a very wide basis Omega 3 [generally not enough in our diet] and 6 [generally too much in our diet because of high vegetable oil consumption] are in almost all body function.

There are a number of trials suggesting significant risk reduction factors in BC for those who take flax oil and or fish oil (long chain Omega 3s). One trial suggested a 70% lower risk in the quartile with the highest levels on long chain Omega 3s in breast tissue.

The ability to convert the mother Omega 3 in flaxseed oil to the long chain fats diminishes with age, may be is reduced by chemo, diminishes with oestrogen loss, etc, so supplementation of the long chain fats DHA and EPA is a sensible risk reduction strategy. [Please talk to your doctor as there are a limited number of health issues particularly with `blood thinning` medication with Omega 3 fish oil supplementation]

It is for me very clear that fats metabolism plays a part in BC and other cancers. Omega 3 and 6 mother fats are unique in that the body cannot make them and they can only be got through diet.

Omega 3 and 6 alter gene expression including HER2 and BRAC.

Herceptin works at least in part through the fats pathways.

Thank you for your kind words

RB
