Awesome Ellie! They do this surgery for colon patients but almost never for breast cancer patients. I didn't get any diet advice, just "eat what I want." I have always been a healthy eater, but for some reason, all I want now is sugar! Stuff I never wanted I'm craving - cookies, candy, pie....

What did they ask her to eat, do you know?

I think waiting three months for chemo would drive me crazy. But, anything would be worth it for NED five years from now. Thank you for sharing your friend's story,

Hi again -
My liver also regenerated within one year (say 6 months after finishing my last chemo). Since it basically had to repair itself from within, I did not know if that is the same as having a large section removed and that can grow back.

My onc was looking at my scan and said that no one would believe that was the same liver of one year earlier that had been full of mets. I had one small scar spot by then.

Hope your new liver will stay well!

The body is a truly amazing thing. Imagine the liver regenerating. I am told that the lobe of my lung that was removed in error has been compensated for by the remainder of my lung. It has filled in...
Glad you got the bracelet! Keep the faith.

Hi Coolbreeze
My friend was advised to have one small portion of good quality protein (fish, chicken etc) per day so that her liver wasn't stressed but to avoid processed and smoked foods like bacon and hot dogs which contain lots of salt. She had plenty of fruit and vegetables but kept citrus fruit to a minimum as the dietician said a number of liver patients had complained of joint pain after having this. As a result she had pears, banana and occasionally a little melon. She was also advised to stop all supps for 3 months as well as over the counter analgesics.
Hope this helps.
Ellie
