4 city of lillies is Florence

PinkGirl 05-12-2009 10:40 AM

That's correct WOS ... Lee etc. is probably going to guess MooseJaw

Colleens_Husband 05-12-2009 12:02 PM

Moose Jaw, Eh? Take off hoser! Their defenders can't skate and their goalie has a five hole the size of sack of socialist flour! If you can't butterfly, you shouldn't be between the pipes.

Translation to American:

No, not moose Jaw.

PinkGirl 05-18-2009 05:51 PM

Hmmmm ... this looks interesting and very difficult. I think I need
to talk to Gerri, the quiz answering fool.

Gerri 05-18-2009 07:36 PM

Oy, Pink! Not sure I can handle such an intense quiz! How about you? I'm better with quick answers off the top of my head that take very little research. I took a quick look at Google Earth and apparently there is much more to it than click and go. Hopefully some of the other quiz answering fools will jump in and give this a go - WOS, for one, or how about Vickie H? Have you seen/heard from her? I haven't seen any posts from her lately, I'm starting to get concerned.

Lee, Bill/Lee, Evil-Lee, Spike, Sport, whatever...you have outdone yourself. Maybe if you come up with a really good prize you will get some action here. We fell for the ever elusive bunny bowl; I'm sure you can come up with an equally enticing prize for this quiz. What's it gonna be? Hmmm?

PinkGirl 05-19-2009 06:10 AM

Exactly what I was thinking Gerri ... but I'm always up for a challenge.
This will be more difficult than the "Lost" quiz.

I am very directionally challenged ... will have lots of trouble with the
north/south/east/west stuff ... but I'll take a stab at it. I'm left handed
so I'm going to start at the bottom :)

Hope Vickie is OK and will join in ... she can take the California questions.

As for the prize (LOL) we will need a third party involved ... there is still
that problem of giving Lee etc. our address. Never forget that Gerri....

PinkGirl 05-19-2009 06:18 AM

OK, I sort of get it ... I found Telus Field in Edmonton and then zoomed
in until I saw the baseball diamond ... cool ... but I think this might be
one of the easier ones ...

16. The Edmonton Trappers and The Edmonton Capitals

PinkGirl 05-19-2009 06:30 AM

Geez Lee etc!!!!

15. Salt

Colleens_Husband 05-19-2009 07:24 AM

Pink Girl:

If you click on the Wikipedia symbol at Telus Field it will say the Edmonton Cracker Cats play there as well.

As for No. 15, it is either salt or cocaine. I'm assuming it is salt because all the Hollywood types spend their time at Cabo San Lucas.

Did you notice the search function at the upper left of the Google Earth screen? You could type in 'Abbey Road Studios' or 'Shemya Island, Alaska' and it will zoom you right to the location. If you have a scroll button on your mouse, you can zoom in closer. Be sure to click on the little blue boxes, there are a lot of answers in them.

Once you get the hang of it, the quiz is going to be pretty easy.

Good luck!

Gerri 05-19-2009 08:16 AM

Okay Pink, this is too funny. When I was typing my response to you last night I originally had in it that I am "severely directionally challenged" and that my Garmin GPS was my new best friend. When I saw your post this morning I thought I had left my comments in - not so. Looks like we may be following in the footsteps of Bill/Lee - scary....

I'll see how far you have gotten on the quiz later tonight. Don't hold back on my account - answer them all if you can.

Good luck!

PinkGirl 05-19-2009 10:00 AM

Gerri, I have always waited for you to get home and I always will .... I'm
not the type to hog a quiz ... nope ... I like to share.

Hey ... maybe we're twins, separated at birth ??? I often use the phrase
" no ... the other left."

Gerri 05-19-2009 10:58 AM

Oh, that's a lot of pressure Pink, but I certainly appreciate the gesture. Do what you can and I'll see what's left and try my best. I hope others will join in - the more the merrier!!

PinkGirl 05-19-2009 11:21 AM

14. Mathew Street.

Colleens_Husband 05-19-2009 12:36 PM

Very Good Pink Girl! It is Matthew Street.

PinkGirl 05-19-2009 12:59 PM

12. A map of the world

13. Whose mother has a house in Jamaica and how am I supposed to know
what colour the roof is???? Lee etc?????

WomanofSteel 05-19-2009 01:50 PM

You girls are doing great! I seem to be a bit foggy lately, so I am going to leave this one to the pros. Good Luck!

WomanofSteel 05-19-2009 01:50 PM

Maybe it's Bob Marley's mother's house?

Gerri 05-19-2009 07:32 PM

Okay, I have to admit this is pretty cool, but not as easy as Lee, etc. says. I've been at this for about 30 minutes and this is all I could come up with - I'm probably wrong.

1. You would travel southeast.

Colleens_Husband 05-20-2009 07:20 AM

Good job Gerri!! You do go southeast to get to Paul McCartney's house. The interesting thing about that is the Beatles crossing the road on the Abbey Road album are on their way to Paul's house for tea.

Pink Girl:

You are correct! Their is a map of the world made of artificial islands off the coast of Dubai. There are also two palm trees.

PinkGirl 05-21-2009 09:34 AM

11. I'm going to say YES ... if that's wrong then I was using a telescope.

GerriGirl ... you quiz answering fool .... a picture of you!!!!!!! But which
one is you???

PinkGirl 05-21-2009 09:44 AM

10. Two bridges ... if that's wrong then I am a very good swimmer.

PinkGirl 05-21-2009 09:46 AM

9. The Palatine Hill

Gerri 05-21-2009 02:21 PM

PinkGirl,

Yep, that is me and my daughter at the Revlon Walk a few weeks ago.

Sorry, haven't had time to help out on the quiz. I'll see if I can do a little tonight.

Back to work..........

PinkGirl 05-21-2009 02:35 PM

8. It looks like a big flat thing ... like an aircraft carrier with a little
teeny, tiny airplane on it

PinkGirl 05-21-2009 02:41 PM

7. Blue and White

Gerri 05-21-2009 07:41 PM

6. A pipe with water running out of the opening??

Gerri 05-21-2009 07:49 PM

5. From the Niagra Falls Canadian Visitors Center, you would head East to Horsehoe Falls.

Gerri 05-21-2009 07:50 PM

4. No boats on Crater Lake

I'll be lucky to get one out of three that I posted - if that.

PinkGirl 05-22-2009 07:27 AM

Oh Quizmaster???? Can you tell us which questions are left to answer?

I still need a hint/clue about the mother's house in Jamaica.

Colleens_Husband 05-22-2009 07:56 AM

Very good on all of the answers except No. 4. If you follow the lines through the dew on Crater Lake you can actually see at least one tour boat.

Questions 2 and 3 still are looking for answers.

The objects on question 8 are an F-18 fighter plane and the USS Harry Truman. Harry Truman got a boat named after him? Who allowed that to happen?

Hint on Mom's house. Use the search function to go to Spanish Town Jamaica. Zoom in until you see a little blue box in the upper right hand side of the screen. Put the cursor over the dot and it should say "Mom's House". Click on the box and you will see the picture. And the answer is no. I have no idea who mom is.

PinkGirl 05-22-2009 08:26 AM

I found mom's house.

13. The roof is red/brick colour

Colleens_Husband 05-22-2009 12:07 PM

Well done Pink Girl. I had faith in you and Gerri.

PinkGirl 05-22-2009 05:15 PM

Bill Clinton was the president and Rep. Ike Skelton, D-Mo. pushed to have the carrier named after Harry Truman

PinkGirl 05-25-2009 10:49 AM

Lee etc.

Thanks for making up the Google Earth quiz. It was a lot of fun
and not as difficult as I thought it would be.

Thanks for taking the time to set it up.....

Month of May Quiz

Name the famous events:

1. May 2, 1803

2. May 5, 1961

3. May 8, 1945

4. May 12, 1907

5. May 30, 1431

6. What is May's birthstone?

7. What is May's flower?

Colleens_Husband 05-28-2009 07:48 AM

May 8th 1945 is VE Day which is the day the Nazi slugs finally surrendered.

PinkGirl 05-29-2009 08:49 AM

That's correct. Any other guesses Lee etc.?

Colleens_Husband 05-29-2009 10:50 AM

May 2, 1803 is the date the Louisiana Purchase was signed making generations of future rednecks Americans instead of French. French rednecks? I tremble in fright.

May 5, 1961 there were three incredibly important events which occurred. First Russ Adam, a Canadian hockey player was born. Second Doris Day finished recording her "I have a Dream" album. Doris is a goddess! Finally and most importantly the Leave it to Beaver episode "Brother versus Brother" was aired. Now that was some good television. Mrs. Cleaver brought Ward a tray of snacks and unbeknown to everyone in the Cleaver family, the dog ate Dad's snacks and Wally and the Beaver go to war to pin the blame on each other. Genius! Simply genius!

Colleens_Husband 05-29-2009 10:51 AM

P.S.

I know that the May 5th answer is wrong. I'd rather be amusing than correct. So there! Pbbbbbbbbbt!!!
