Surgery for cutaneous mets

Hi Guys,

My wife has regular head MRI's because of brain mets. She has never had any systemic disease. The latest MRI Report states :

There is a partially enhancing subcutaneous nodule
with restricted diffusion overlying the right temporal bone. This has a diameter of 7mm and is consistent with a cutaneous deposit.

My wife had two crainiotomy's within two months 18 months ago. The lump has been there since the second one. We checked back on previous scans and we can see it for the past year. She had a biopsy on it today. Everyone is unsure what it is. Results should be about a week.

Has anyone had surgery for this? I've googled and contacted a few surgeons, and a few have said they will do it.

My wife has cutaneous mets, however the surgeons have stated that it would be very hard to surgically excise a cutaneous met. The skin being such a large organ and since they cannot determine the clear margins it would be very hard. She never had any surgery. She had responded to radiation in the past. The radiation oncologists were good at targeting the depth of the radiation to only the skin region and not the organs inside. We are currently on a clinical trial for cutaneous mets.

Yanyan, who was one of the members on this board had surgery but the cancer returned on her skin.

Hi my partner Catherine has had skin mets that have come and gone over the years. She has recently had a recurrence after 3 years break despite being on Kadcyla in that time. We were referred to a skin specialist/plastic surgeon who is going to do a procedure called electrochemotherapy in 3 weeks time.

The Doctor seemed confident that he could help so we have our fingers crossed.

Hi no we are in England, really hope you find somewhere it does look like it has good efficacy and unlike R/T can be safely repeated if necessary.

Hi we are in Bristol but I believe there are other centres that now do it as the Doctor we saw said it was becoming a treatment of choice due to its relatively high success rate and low side effects.

Suggest try Google to see if one in your area.
