Still in UPenn. Tumors in liver are bigger and wrapping around "things". Hospital doc gave me impression there was nothing left to do but that my oncologist will be around to see me today/this evening. I am beside myself. Please, Lord.

I've been home since yesterday. I only spent two nights in the hospital. Missed my daughter's 18th birthday, although we did sing happy birthday with cupcakes at the hospital and then went out to dinner when I got home. I feel great, thanks be to God, except for some bloating and discomfort after eating, but I'll take it. Praise The Lord. The CT report says I have a small amount of ascites.
I'm a big baby in the hospital. Someone usually spends the night with me, my husband, sister, best friend, etc. I'd rather my husband be home taking care of our family but he'd rather be with me because he says I don't remember everything to ask and everything that's told to me (he's right). It's nice to have someone there who can get up and get you cold water or the nurse, etc. The medical staff at the Hospital of UPenn are awesome. They always do their best to accommodate us.
Thanks for all the prayers, thoughts, love, and hugs. You guys are amazing. We all are, and we should never stop praying for ourselves and each other, no matter how bleak things look. He calls us to do so.
Penny
Penny,
Things will go your way. You are in a great place, and they'll take care of things. I will light my three angel candles tonight for you. They are for Christmas but I keep them lighted all year.

I'm so sorry, Penny, for you and for your family. It's been such a hard road for you. It's so unfair, so wrong.
Shortly after I was diagnosed I got some CDs with guided meditations and affirmations. One of the affirmations brought me up short at first, and then I decided to embrace it, and it helped me. It said, "More and more, I know that I can heal myself and live, or I can heal myself and die. My wholeness does not depend on my physical condition."
You seem to have a very whole, healthy spirit. You've been so honest, open, and faithful. You have set a wonderful example for others to follow. I love and admire you.
The set of affirmations ended with, "More and more, I know that I am held in the hands of God, and I am perfectly, utterly safe."

Dear Penny, you are in my heart and in my thoughts. I hope the new combo will help. You don't post how you are feeling and I figure you don't want to complain. You are so strong. Penny,
I really want you to live. I'm taking a chance writing this for you. Weighing chemo and growth vs. healing, I say stop the chemo. Take the antibodies. And immediately look into dendritic cell therapy. Others have gotten out of their hospice beds. I know how hard you are praying, and I think this can help. PLEASE.

I'm still here. I read everyone's posts and inwardly celebrate or commiserate, depending upon the news. I try to remember to thank The Lord for each step of our journey. No matter what, there is a happy ending.
Monday being a holiday, my next appointment is on Tuesday. My bilirubin will determine whether or not I get chemo. I'm still jaundice, my eyes are yellow, and my urine is usually dark. The oncologist said this can be so even if the bilirubin comes down, so who knows what will happen. It is what it is.
I thank The Lord I was able to spend another beautiful day at the beach with good friends. Life is good.
Happy Memorial Day. Thank You, Lord, for those who've sacrificed for our freedoms.

Hi, Penny,
You are RIGHT there: Abramson Cancer Center. My integrative doctor has been using Keytruda on a non-breast or non-melanoma metastatic patient and his recovery has been astounding. He's battled lung cancer mets to *everywhere* and Keytruda has wiped it out of his body.
Check this out:
Keytruda® with Hypofractionated Radiotherapy for Metastatic Breast Cancer
RADVAX: A Stratified Phase I Trial of Pembrolizumab With Hypofractionated Radiotherapy in Patients With Advanced and Metastatic Cancers (NCT02303990)
Summary
The immunotherapy pembrolizumab (Keytruda®) targets programmed cell death 1 (PD-1), a receptor that keeps the immune system from attacking cancer cells. It is approved for treating metastatic melanoma and is being studied in metastatic breast and other cancers. Hypofractionated radiation delivers larger doses of radiation in less amount of time than standard radiation therapy. This trial is investigating the effectiveness of using hypofractionated radiotherapy in combination with Keytruda for treating metastatic breast (and other advanced) cancers that have progressed on at least one prior therapy.

NEW Keytruda with Herceptin or Kadcyla in Advanced Breast (and Other) Cancer
A Phase Ib/II Study of Pembrolizumab and Monoclonal Antibody Therapy in Patients With Advanced Cancer (PembroMab (NCT02318901)
Summary
Pembrolizumab (Keytruda®) is a new immunotherapy agent that works by blocking a protein called programmed cell death (PD-1) that normally keeps the body's immune system from attacking and destroying tumor cells. It has recently approved for treating metastatic melanoma and may also be effective in other types of cancer. Ado-trastuzumab ematansine/T-DM1 (Kadcyla®) is a HER2-targeted therapy that combines the chemotherapy drug DMI with the HER2-targeted therapy trastuzumab (Herceptin®). In patients with HER2+ metastatic breast cancer, this study will compare the safety and effectiveness of Keytruda and Herceptin with Keytruda and Kadcyla. Patients with other types of cancers will be enrolled in different arms of the study.
This is a Phase I-II trial
