The drug tamoxifen appears to kill a fungus associated with a deadly brain infection that afflicts HIV/AIDS patients, according to a University of Rochester study published online today by mBio, the journal of the American Society for Microbiology.

Great! A good use for that Tamoxifen that Linn65 is no longer taking . . .

I read this in a pharmacy journal. Apparently it effects
a calcium dependent enzyme called Calmodulin. I wonder how well Tamoxifen gets into the brain as Crytococcosis is often a brain infection. For those who like trivia the yeast Crytococcus Neoformans is theonly yeast that never produces a mycelial mold like form. It only exists as a budding yeast cell
