My heart is so, so sad reading this..... I hope and pray that Amanda was not in pain, and was at peace. I feel numb and I'm not sure what to write now other than love and peace to you all, and especially to Amanda's family.

This is just too soon, Amanda didn't get to see her son in his new school uniform. I hope she wasn't in pain, with her coughing. She was so dedicated to her family, I offer them my condolences.

Thanks to the Downunder girls for sticking together and letting us know.
I felt that she was getting the best she could in the way of treatment.

Just so sorry that she has to leave her family at such a young age. My very deep condolences to them all.

I am a relatively new member of this group but I have been very touched by Amanda’s posts the past few months. The only words that come to my mind are sorrow and mercy. She struggled so hard, and it was heartbreaking to read her last post in September. I offer my sincerest condolences to her family and to those close to her.

I came home from a fab holiday last night to be confronted with this. I am devastated, to say the least, as she was such a beautiful person with time for all. I was planning on visiting her on my return. So quick as she only went to hospital and decided to stop treatment on September 24th. I know this date as she was meant to be with us on that day.
Dawny i am not sure if Amanda was changing her son's school, but she definitely saw him in uniform to start prep at school.
This is part of my post on the BCAUS forum i have been on since 2006.

Janine(founder) posted this quote re forum angels and i think it sums her up really well.

These are not women who succumbed or lost their battle. These are the women who teach us how to give, how to love and how to live; whose spirit is indomitable and their presence, in life and in their passing, is electric. For this we celebrate them. -- Tamar Paluch

She is to be celebrated greatly for being her, which was a beautiful person who fought hard to stay for her young family. Condolences to Brendan and her three lovely children.
Amanda will be greatly missed by those who knew her. xo
RIP Amanda

I am so sad i didn't get to see her. xo

And more....
StephN, she tried Havalen as her last treatment but began to feel really unwell. This is when she went to hospital and was told if she kept up treatment she would die sooner.
This is a post she put 5th October when i asked after her well being:

I'm ok. Mainly just spending time sitting in my chair in our lovely front room. Quite a few visitors from Qld. I deteriorated quite a bit when I first got home but past couple of days have been better. I am very breathless on exertion and can no longer walk upstairs to my bedroom so we have moved into our spare room downstairs. The home care nurses have visited and will come twice a week to check my symptom management. I have a stool for the shower as I was exhausted standing and yesterday an oxygen converter arrived which I don't really need yet but just in case. I have my appetite back which is a nice feeling as eating gives me strength. I am living in blissful denial saving my energy, knitting, reading, writing, chatting.

A friend (who is having her 50th tonight!) rang her on Wednesday and she was coughing a lot. She and all of us are just so shocked by the suddenness.

I held Amanda in high regard for her extensive knowledge of this horrible disease. Unfortunately here in Oz we aren't up to you in trials etc. Amanda didn't want to waste time with her family(going overseas) to buy a bit more time even tho she had a very aggressive disease.
Thank you Amanda for the time you spent discussing my disease with me and for being such a positive influence.

Such devastating news. Such a quick demise - I guess on the one hand is good but so hard for all (including us) to come to terms with.

I will miss Amanda and her intelligence and heart so very much.

I read this last night and just couldn't respond. I've been thinking about her since I got up. I just hurt so bad for her family that lost her way to soon. I have kids about the same age as hers and I am so saddened for them her hubby and family.
If optimism and hope could cure cancer she would still be with us now.
Christine thank you for sharing with us.
Rest in peace dear sister

This is so sad. Amanda was such a sweet person and I didn't realize she was at this point in the road. I hate this disease because it is taking such a toll. I wish we didn't have another Angel looking over us.

Peace and love to Amanda's family.

It is hard to post, this is truly so sad. Modern medicine, modern cancer research didn't have the answers. Amanda had amazing doctors, and was very knowledgeable about her cancer. She had everything to live for, and clearly wanted to. She tried 9 treatments and every treatment failed her.

She was beaten by cancer and wanted to spend the time she had enjoying her family. It breaks my heart. We all wanted her to be well and to have many, many more years with her family.

I cried. I also resolved to pay more attention to what's going on with group members. Amanda was important to me, and my absence from the board meant I didn't have a chance to tell her that. She set a wonderful example of loving, attentive support for others. In her honor, I will follow that example.

In her last email to me on 9/25, Amanda said she "could not believe this was happening," and that she "felt like she failed." To that I say, "No, dear Amanda, you DID not fail, the drugs FAILED you."

Drug companies, governments (especially foreign governments), policymakers, law-passers, as you drop in here from time to time, know that we have just lost a great friend and mother AGAIN, and you need to work harder, more diligently, and more in the interest of humanity than you are. Let the drugs cross your borders. Give patients a chance at what they want!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

In her last email to me (10/7) Amanda wrote of how hard she has tried (with what is available in Australia re genomic profiling). The cost of testing in US with all that would entail she said would exceed $15,000. She said she has more than 50 tumors each with their own profile that responds differently to tx.

She promised me she was trying to boost her immune system. She was very, very weak.

Her emails were getting shorter and shorter.

Full of love, Amanda always wrote, Thanks so much, Andi.

She had no doubt that some further possibilities would be available if she lived in the US. Phase 1 and 2 trails in Australia are limited and unfortunately she'd never responded to her HER2 tx. She remained hopeful that resting and recuperating will help her, however, her breathing and exercise capability was undeniably diminishing. She wrote, I WILL NEVER GIVE UP HOPING THOUGH. And again, she added, Thank you for caring. Amanda XX

My package to her has likely not yet arrived...

I just wrote to her earlier, because she hadn't responded to my last email, which she always does. I wanted permission to post her address, as some have PMd me, wanting to reach out to her, to shower her with cards.

Well, we can send our love to her beloved family!

Only yesterday, I saw a beautiful photo of Amanda on FB that a dear friend had taken. Her strength of Spirit shone!

I am writing Amanda's name down in purple ink. I plan to touch it and close my eyes and send her my fervent love and blessings. I feel certain you will receive this energy. I will see her on the other side. Where we can hug and hold hands and dance, floating weightlessly with the joy of meeting. I smile dreaming of this...

Heartbroken! Shocked. Shaken to the core! Impossible. No one could have fought more!

My computer bit the dust, and I am waiting on Dell to build me a new laptop..still two weeks to go. I came to my mom's today to check on everyone here, and I am so shocked and saddened to hear this news. It's horrible how fast this disease can take over once it gets the littlest bit of advantage. I will sure miss Amanda and her posts. I feel just devastated for the loss and pain her family is enduring...I don't have the words to properly express the thoughts going through my head. Im just sad and so terribly sorry for her family and friends. Prayers for peace and comfort for everyone.

I hope I'm not doing something inappropriate posting this. I saw this on Amanda's FB page and it made me smile a bit. I hoped it would effect you similarly.

Amanda had written to me that she removed her signature because she didn't want her treatments to define her. She sent it to me however.

For two yrs Amanda fought with all she possibly could, added meditation, an acupuncturist, a healer, following everything available in Australia re genomic profiling -- and love. Much love. Always. A recurring theme in all her emails. Always signed, Amanda xx Always thanking me for caring so much. The picture in the link below says so much. Covered in a love rug...

Such a beautiful soul! Australia had a grand celebration of her Amanda's life today. Her husband Brendan and three children, her mum, her brother and many many whose lives she'd touched. All dressed in red, as she requested. With selected music and prayers she'd chosen. A woman of remarkable courage, strength and grace...

Thank you for posting that, Andi. Sure made me tear up. I checked Amanda's FB page today. Found this editorial which sheds much needed light on how those of us with metastatic bc feel left out from October's pink madness and focus on survival. Of course, that is the dream of each of us.

Some, sadly, live with bc and with the knowledge that they won't survive.

I have pondered this long and hard for 15 yrs. I do believe that when we KNOW a thing, embed it in our subconscious (without even realizing it) we ensure the outcome unwittingly.

It is my prayer that others will read my posts, especially those in IN SIMPLE FORMULA FOR CHANGING THE FUTURE, which is of course never a matter of mastering our thoughts (even those we are not consciously aware of).

Our attitude and our Assumptions (often while staring at reason and what we deem as reality) requires us to have the faith to believe we are empowered with the ability to rise above what our senses tell us, not to buy into the story that is presenting itself to us and though not sinking into denial we fully embrace and live as who we wish to be. This is a feat I fully understand. The power of outside conditions and circumstances defies us with every breath we take. Yet we must resist and move ahead with fearless faith and confidence.

May we each rise to higher and higher states of consciousness and bring into manifestation more and more of creation's infinite wonders.

MAKE BELIEVE -- GREAT MIRACLES ARE POSSIBLE... KNOWING that what you feel will come to be fact.

God bless Amanda's Soul. I admire her so. I respect her great message to each of us, and thank her eternally.

Our society's make extraordinary warriors feel left out. Failures at their task. We each do the very best we can. Surely Amanda did that and far far more. So many do.
