Many thanks to everyone. I got a nice surprise this year. My birthday happened to occur during Ohio Wesleyan's Family Weekend (my daughter is a freshman there this year) so I went up north and got to hang out with my kid. Other than the drive (shall we say that Delta's prices were somewhat..........unreal) we had a wonderful and very meaningful time. Isabella is doing very well and adjusting nicely. She does miss home and parents but I think is doing as well as one can be doing at 5 weeks into a new school, new part of the country and a lot more freedom. She is attending classes, grades are good and she already seems to be more sophisticated in her thinking (and has joined the debate team). Her classes this term range from 13-20 students so I am very happy about that. Again, many thanks for thinking of me and Bella. I had a wonderful birthday.
