I have been on Tamoxifen since July 2012. I stopped getting my period after AC in February 2012. I have not missed getting my monthly visitor. Quite frankly, I was thrilled to be done with all that.
Then two days ago, to my horror, I woke up to a mess. I freaked out and called my doctor and texted my OB/GYN. My Oncologist said that some women get their periods while on Tamoxifen. My OB/GYN was alarmed and scheduled yet another ultrasound for tomorrow. I've had 3 ultrasounds in the last 5 months because of cysts on my left ovary.
So, have any of you had your periods come back while on Tamoxifen?

Europa,

I have not had my period return, but then I am as old as dirt, so at 54 that would be a concern. However, I do know of many whose periods continue while on Tamoxifen particularly those in whom menopause would not be on their horizon yet being too young for it.

Good luck with the ultrasound.

My period came back while on Tamoxifen. I had my ovaries removed and went on Arimidex. I was 46 at that time so no more periods after that. I was 7 months from my last chemo. Like you, my period stopped after my 2nd AC treatment.

Oh yeah. Mine came back with a vengeance! It was regular for 6 months, took two months off and came back again. Awaiting its return this weekend. I was told tamox wouldn't stop it and since I'm only 5% ER + everyone wants me to leave my ovaries where they are.

I also had my period return within 6-weeks of completing chemo. Even though I'm 49, menopause is very late in my family (my aunt was almost 70) and I wasn't close to it. My doctors are not concerned given how fertile I was prior to chemo.

Well they decided to do a biopsy which was quite unpleasant and still feel cramps. Ugh. But was told that everything looked normal....now we just have to wait for the lab results.

thanks everyone for the responses.
