Hey All

I have a question regarding Tamox. My chemo ended in Oct and my menses resumed mid Jan. At the end of Jan I began Tamox. From mid Jan thru mid June my period was regular and (after the first one) not as bad as it had been pre BC.

But it hasn't come this month. I am now 2 weeks late. I'm never late. And I'm not pregnant.

My friend began Tamox right after chemo (she didn't do rads) and her period never came back.

Could the Tamox be the culprit? I am not having any menopause symptoms.

I see the med onc in a month and don't feel like calling and asking him this question if I can get an answer on here.

Anyone experience this?
Thanks
Leah

tamox doesn't stop your periods - the chemo may and like you (and me) they may resume. That means your body is producing some estrogen, enough to get a period. Tamox binds to the estrogen receptors (or something like that) which is why some oncs say its fine to get periods while on tamox. My onc does not want me producing estrogen and started shutting down my ovaries with Lupron as soon as my periods returned. So now I am back in menopause. Once the SOFT studies come out in December we will re-evaluate. The study compares pre-meno women on tamox alone ve tamox plus ovarian suppression to see if it makes a difference in reaccurance. If it doesn't im stopping the shots because I really feel im suffering with zero estrogen in my body
