I did, I did! My daughter and husband made me feel like the most special person in the world: they gave me a gorgeous diamond necklace and when my mother-in-law joined them, a birthday cake delivered right to my bed!

Hey, the situation I endured was a disaster, but I'm still going. The ablation is done. But I was wounded, I was sooo hurt. From shoulder to hip, I still cannot feel my skin and on the inside, well ouch: after the artery was cut, I started to lose my life. They could not stop the bleeding! CODE! STAT! My ribs were rearranged via a five-inch cut to cut into my lung for emergency surgery. I lost 3.5 liters of blood, my friend, which is death, but they were pumping my lungs all the while via intubation and kept me alive. I had a transfusion, oh my God...I am in shock...

But I am NED presently. I will be on Herceptin alone, even though I started with Navelbine and did two treatments. I am simply not ready to take any more drugs until absolutely necessary.

All cool, all cool.

What a horrifying experience- when you expected a relatively benign trip in and out of the hospital. You have sadly experienced more than your share of trauma. First the WTC devastation, then your mets diagnosis (which is all the trauma a gentle soul should have to take), and now this?!? The incessant chatter, replaying these nightmares, that must be inside your head...well, it is hard to imagine.
You have had a lot on your plate sweet angel. I am happy you are dialing it down during this lazy month of August. Herceptin alone is fine as along as you are NED. Peace seems to be the order of the day. I am sorry I was not on the boards when all hell broke loose; but I am glad to be here to hear your somewhat happy ending.
In 3 short days I will be bringing my 4th and youngest child (son) to NYU to start his freshman year. Now I will have 2 kids in NYC and i have NO excuse not to meet you for lunch during one of my trips down. So stay healthy and well - and please keep me posted on your strategies for regaining peace.
Hugs and hugs to you brave Ninja warrior

Kim,
NYU is my alma mater! Of course, I will see you very, very soon. I can't wait for that because I have always LOVED you!
