Kadcyla...1st treatment

Hi Friends, I had my first treatment of kadcyla 6 days ago...had a low grade headache for one day and fatigue 2 days later. (2nd person to go on it at my onc clinic) Today l am feeling nauseous...anyone else have that? Thanks, Ceesun

I have gotten 3 infusions of kadcyla so far and never did I have a headache- but for sure I felt tired and achy. The spots where my bone mets are also ache for about 1-2 weeks after infusions; hope that means the little bastards are dying. I found that just taking ibuprofen and alternating it with tylenol worked great for me. I've also heard from other BC websites that the more crappy you feel after infusion, the better the response, although I heard rumors like that about herceptin and I never felt crappy due to herceptin alone. Go figure. I was also the second (or first) one at my institution to get kadcyla. ;)

Hi Ceesun ! I have got 2 treats so far :D)

First time side effects kicked next day, bad headache and muscle pain, not so much nausea though; 2nd time delayed side effects but didn't miss much except for bad headache, this time felt more bone pain in my lower legs;

The nausea that you are experincing can be related to your liver function being abnormal, especially if you had been treated heavily with other chemo drugs. I take Reishi supplements (if i remember which i do most of the time ) and you may want to check if the high antixidant interferes with Kadcyla. My onco has not said anything since i am not on a chemo which targets rapidly growing cells, those that cause hair loss.

It has been fairly easy so far but your platelets can drop really hard. Mine went down to only 18000 on day 7 but bounced back to 108,000 in the following week.

I seem to get headaches, fatigue, and nausea, off and on, for at least the first two weeks after treatment. Hopefully, your side effects won't last as long.

Ladies,
On one hand... I'm sorry you don't feel well after your Kadcyla infusions

But... if what Kristen read about "the worse you feel, the better it's working" is true... then I hope those nasty BC cells are feeling even worse than you are! Dying the painful death they so richly deserve!
