So I got my scan result today which I scored A-. Thankfully the cancer is still confined regionally and no brain involvement!! The less positive news is that now it's also in the non cancerous breast! A BIG surprise!!!
The mystery is that i had a prophylactic (thank u google spelling check ) mastectomy on the left breast 2.5 yrs ago. How in the world did cancer spread to my axillary and mammary nodes on the non cancer side that had no cancer? Is it even possible? The whole purpose of a prophylactic mastectomy is to reduce breast cancer to a single digit? I seem to be the ones in the low percentage that had a local recurrence after mastectomy and now mets to other side. Or could it be a misreading?
The findings read: new focus of increased metabolic activity SUV 2.5 is visualized in the left axilla which corresponds to a 1.0 cm in maximal ap dimension left axillary lymph node on the ct scan ( previously measured 8.0 mm and did not show increased metabolic activity). Findings worrisome of neoplastic involvement.
New small focus of increased metabolic activity SUV of 1.9 is visualized in the left internal mammary nodal chain. There is a possible tiny lymph node noted on the corresponding ct images....worrisome of blah.....blah....
The 3rd new finding is no surprise as I know about my progression in the cancerous breast. Only there is now identified sub pectoral nodal station that correlates with a new lymph node involvement.
My conclusion is more progression in lymph nodes but I am not sure about the left side. Has anyone had anything similar happened before? My treatment plan I am sure will still by kadcyla. We will finish the 3 cycles and this time it will be for sure reirradition .
My skin mets seem to be regressing now I am on day 6 round 1. The redness is still there for sure but swelling seem to have gone down. I am hoping to see more improvements. Palates must be very low now as a little bit external force can give me red spots.
