Hi HER-2ers,

I got a surprise bill in the mail this weekend charging over $730 for a 10-min visit to the cancer center to flush my port. The insurance covered only $300 and now I'm left with a huge bill.

This seems to be a mistake to me as I don't remember being charged for a port flush like this before. Do you know how much you get charged to flush your port? I've had mine since diagnosis and I've kept it so far.

Thanks,

Bejuce

Wow, that has to be a mistake and I'd query it if I were you Bejuce!

My port flush was about $150.00. Once they charged me for a blood draw/test which they did not do when they flushed my port, so I had to straighten that out with insurance. Sounds like a mistake to me.

I had my port removed earlier this year, but for the 3+ years it was in place the clinic billed approximately $100 for each flushing. Insurance paid about $40 on the claims for port flushing servies. Everyone seemed to be happy with those figures so I think a $730 for a port flushing must be a mistake. Perhaps it was coded incorrectly when the claim was submitted. Good luck on getting this straightened out.---bird
