I developed a complete patient care program and pitched it to the hospital I was treated at after I finished AC. They loved it but they were right in the middle of merging with John Hopkins. So I got shelved. I kept going on my own with the main part of it which was to create tote bags filled with items that other patients found useful during treatment for new patients. I did it quietly here and there until I could launch as a formal 501c(3) and more importantly finished my treatment.
Well, my lawyer emailed me today and the incorporation papers have been drawn up and we are 3 weeks away from being a real non-profit! Donations to this organization will be used to create and distribute more bags and eventually a full patient care program. I also will be using some of the donations to benefit this site as I have found such support and salvation here. I'm so excited I can barely contain myself.
