I have always found it amazing how one drug designed for one medical reason ends up solving another medical
problem.

If only....this could be the answer.

I took this drug years ago for lupus - brand name Plaquenil. It would be wonderful if it has success against cancer.

I have posted on chloroquine before--and Courtney even tried it. As I recall she developed a seizure attributed to the chloroquine, one of the reasons physicians are hesitant about "off-label" use.

Hi
Lani your right our Courtney did take this prescribed by her onc but as you say had a seizure. It seems a pity that there arn't clinical trials looking at its effectiveness. I guess there's no money to be made.

Dr. Lance Liotta started the trial of "neoadjuvant" chloroquin for DCIS and plans others. Heard him speak about them in 2011. Will try to catch up with his latest at the upcoming meetings.

I emailed Courtney about Chloroquin, and after her experience she firmly told me NOT TO TAKE it. She said it was NOT worth the risk- she said she was constantly worried about having a seizure while driving or when she was in the shower or home alone. God Bless our lost sister, I miss her spirit.
