Hema's last scan showed that there was no (normal) abnormal FDG intake in her left breast and that it is calcified. There is a hard bone like bump in the breast. Is it so normally? Ocassionally she gets fleeting pain there. What about that.Hema will be glad for some info on that.Wishing all all the best

I also still get breast pain and was told its from the cut nerves etc there and I've learned to ignore it!
Wishing you and Hema well, it'll be interesting to hear some feedback on this.

Could this be scar tissue from a previous surgery?
Chemo affects healthy tissue in addition to killing cancer in unhealthy tissues. I wonder if the calcifications and pain are a side effect of chemo?
All the best to you and Hema.
Just another suggestion. Did Hema have radiation on that site? I know two of my ribs got hit pretty good, they hurt if I touch them. Peace my friends, Nancy
there is such a thing as post radiation fibrosis as well as an entity called fat necrosis which can calcify
The former responds to trental+vitamin E (French trials have confirmed, even rather late after they have occurred) the latter has a distinct appearance on mammogram.
There is also something called heterotopic ossification which is usually a post traumatic problem, often in a muscle after, for example a bad contusion against a steering wheel.
Perhaps if you go to google and pubmed and research these terms you may be able to formulate something to ask the doctors.
None of these are dangerous or make metastasis more likely as far as I can discern, just a "pain in the .....breast"!
Hope this helps
