Anyone taking this for severe hot flashes. I started 1 mg Estradiol oral per day on Thurs. evening. So far ( Sun. Evening) noticing not much relief.
Very severe hot flashes.

Anyone else try this?

You will need to give it some time - you should see better and better results as the days pass. This is because hot flashes occur because your body is starving for estrogen so the pituatary gland releases LH/FSH to stimulate the ovaries to make MORE NOW. But they can't cuz they are going into a shutdown mode from either natural menopause or from chemo, disease (you are very ill with something) or you are too thin.

Starving for estrogen means that the cells crying out for it each only get alittle bit and that is then supplemented daily and over time, everyone gets what they need. They just can't whack you with a couple of super large doses to get the titer up quick and then give you the small dose you are on - ya just gotta wait for the results (and for the effective circulating dose to be achieved).

It kinda like antidepressants in a way. You are depressed so you get a prescription. You take the first dose and don't feel any different. But over the course of a couple of weeks you will feel better as the effective circulating dose is achieved.

Wait it out alittle bit (a few weeks) and I think you will notice a difference.

Thank you for the explanation Becky. I am waiting for a call from my GYN this morning because I asked of him the same question over the weekend, via e-mail. I just didn't understand as he told me that the drug did not build up in your system....metabolized through the liver etc. so it didn't make sense to me. Although, he did tell me to give it to the first part of Sept. before I made a judgement call. So, thank you friend. Your explanation makes sense and makes me feel better too. Praying these "babies" do the trick as I am SICK SICK SICK SICK to death (can you tell.... :-) ) of these hot flashes. 7 years is ENOUGH...and the severity is just about as bad as 7 years ago when I was put in chemo-pause.

Thanks again Becky. Hope you are well.

Love and blessings.....

MJ

I'm happy you are doing well. Remember, I am right behind you. :-)

Yes, the Estradoil is working. It "feels" so good. I am sleeping again.....I even feel better, as wierd as that sounds. Not to mention the "other" thing....(down their) - hehe - that is better and BACK too. Hubby says "I like estrogen!"

Blessings to you friend,

Mary Jo
