My mom was diagnosed with HER2+ mets in August. She had a PET scan today and her breast tumor is 1/2 the original size it was in August. So far she has had 2 chemo treatments. She is scheduled to probably have 4 more chemos with another PET scan after number 2 more.
Best case scenario I assume is hercep monthly down the road.
I sure hope the cancer keeps shrinking. Is there a chance that the tumors will be gone even though she has mets to bone, and 2 small lesions on liver?
Asking for advice from others who have had experience in this area.
I know she will never be "cured" but .......what can the outcome turn out to be.
I know we still have a LONG ROAD ahead. Please keep us in your thoughts.
This website has given me knowledge and support I have needed! Thanks to you all.

Way to go !!!!!!!!! I can't say definitely will or will not happen in the future, but your Mom is certainly off to a great start. It sounds like she has a good doctor too.
All the best to you both !!
KG,
How Awesome for your Mom and You! Anything is possible, please keep the Faith. There is a thread here called "Calling all stage 4 sisters" I'm sure you will find someone with the same case. I know their are several stage 4 ladies who are NED now!
Please keep us posted.
Gods blessings to you both.
Please know you are both in my prayers.
Your Friend,
Nancy

Many prayers are headed your mom's way! She's one strong lady!
And, lucky to have you for support. :)
Stay strong!
Denise
Off to an excellent start! Not only are some Stage 4 survivors here NED, they are off meds altogether!
Much continued success to your mother! Also, you might want to investigate Kathleen Rich, who is a 21-year survivor, although not HER2. What chemo is your mother on?

What a wonderful response your Mom is having and I hope that continue's, a friend of mine with liver mets did manage to shrink them all and has regular scans now to keep an eye out she remains as well as she is!
Karen, love your avatar and thanks for the smile as it brought back happy memories of watching that show as a child:)

I totally agree with everyone on this thread- there is much hope with Her2+ breast cancer. My lemon- sized tumor, shrunk to nothing in 6 months thanks to FEC and herceptin. Keep your chin up!

Just this past weekend I met a lady at the checkout at the grocery store. Someone was buying the bc bracelet and she started to talk about bc and how 8 yrs ago she was diagnosised at stage 4. Turns out we have the same oncologists. She was told it did not look good. She completed her treatment and has been NED every since. She said that she keeps waiting for it to come back but so far so good. I skipped out of that store feeling like we bc survivors are strong, victorious and courageous. We all deserve an ATTA GIRL. There is so much hope these days. They are starting to figure it out. I hope the best for your mom. Bless you for being there for her. Keep us posted.
