My surgery was this past Monday on October 3. The night before all I did was cry and grieve my loss. On the way to the hospital I again cried.. Monday obviously is a blur. Tuesday had a few issues my IV infiltrated my arm and that was more painful than my chest. I have 4 drains, never expected them to look like hand grenades. My bp dropped to 80/50 and temp spiked to 101.2. I was released Wednesday evening. My only concern was my bp was still the same but they did not seem worried.. I rested all day yesterday and today managed a shower and went out to dinner with my family. I believe I pulled a stitch and think my drains on both sides are leaking so we will keep watching it. I have not been brave enough to look yet.I stopped the pain meds on Wednesday and am now taking Ibuprofen. Now it is a day to day process of getting back on my feet. They had to remove my port during surgery so in the next few weeks I have that surgery to look forward to and then more chemo.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Lots of hugs and well wishes..
Thanks for the update. Remember to rest, take it easy, don't try to do too much. Let your family and friends help you - take those offers of casseroles, help with your kids etc.
Those first few days/weeks after surgery are tough. Emotions are all over the place, as well as all the physical stuff. Try to conserve your strength, you'll need it when you start chemo. (which is very doable).
all the best

Towsenuf,
Hang in there your doing Great! I don't doubt it took a lot to make that post! But you did it. I'm very proud of you! This is the toughest part of the journey (I think.). Gods blessings to you and your family. Looking forward to hearing future updates.
Your Friend,
Nancy.

Tracy,
I remeber those drain bottles. I had two of them and they filled up pretty quick the first couple of days. My breasts swelled up the 2nd or third day after I went back home and I ended up going back to the surgeon who made thin cuts to squeeze the fluid out.
Don't wait till you feel pain to take the pain meds. Eat well and rest well. You will feel much better in just a couple more days.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the words of encouragement.. I feel pretty good except last Saturday I broke my left foot. First broken bone in my life.. Of course it is a Jones Fracture which requires surgery to place a pin otherwise it will not heal. Just my luck..

Hey "Two",
How are you?
I'm about a week behind you in healing (minus the broken foot, you poor thing!) and I tried giving up the pain meds....only to find out that it was a baaaad idea.
My doc won't let me take Advil, so if I don't take the heavy meds he gave me...all I can have is Tylenol (which I swear is code for "little white pill, that does NOTHING!")
When you're feeling up to it...PM me, and we can compare notes on this whole healing thing.
Hope you're doing okay!
Denise
