It doesn't seem possible that 6 years have passed since my diagnosis and my rush to learn about what it meant to be ER+ PR+ Her2Neu +++, invasive lobular...wow overwhelming!!! I had a strong support team of Bette (my partner) and sometimes my kids. Bette kept my moods up as far as possible, got on my case when I was freaking out, fixed my favorie foods when everything tasted like steel wool, took me to appointments, paid attention to the doctors when they seemed to speak russian as far as i was concerned! The emotional roller coaster has smoothed out considerably over the past 6 years. Every ache and pain does not require an immediate ER visit! I have met an incredibly strong and amasing group of women and men, through these boards, and in my outside world. There have even been days when I get ready for bed and realize I have not thought about cancer for an entire day!!! Thar
t is huge. I have changed my lifestyle. having cancer forced me to face my own mortality. I live in the moment and do things now, rather than postpone for another time. I have more patience, I eat better, get more exercise. In other words, my life is fun! Congratulations to all of you out there, doing the best that you can from day to day. It is the fight of our lives. We are worth it!!! Ask questions, educate ourselves, go with our gut instincts, and listen!! I am proud and thrilled to be here 6 years after my first tentative shy forays into support groups, This one is THE BEST!!! Thank you for helping me through my first 6 years ! XOX Suzan W

Hey Sister.....CONGRATULATIONS to you too! It almost seems that all of "this" has happened to someone other than myself. I'm not sure why, but it does. Do you feel that way too?
Sending my sincere love and congratulations to one of my fellow sisters on the journey.

Well well. June is quite a month!! Comgratulations. And many many more years to come. So many in fact that you won't be able to remember and will have to do the math. So many that you won't even think to do the math!

Dear Suzan -
Congratulations, and thanks for chiming in to the SIX YEAR CLUB.
Yes, life is what we make of it and having a serious cancer diagnosis can change that up!
We can make more or less of the time we have. Glad you have risen above the diagnosis to a full life.

Happy, happy day!!! This "one day at a time" thing works for all kinds of things in life, doesn't it? I ,too, celebrated 6 years this spring. I wish you the best. If you were in Boise, I'd bake you a cake. Oh wait! I baked a cake for a friend celebrating 21 years of sobriety today so I 'll just add your 6 years cancer free to that. He won't mind.
Love & hugs,
Marlys
