Cut Spam and Malware - good free program

We have experienced a spate of unwanted posts with dangerous links on this site lately. If you feel you have had a rise in spam to your computer, try NOT receiving Notifications from this site for a while and see if that helps.

My computer has been slogging down lately, so I found a free program to run that cleans out the files that escaped my Norton Security.

Spybot - Search and Destroy will find all kinds of bad files and resolve them. Just do a search and you will find a couple of sites to download from. This program also has an "Immunize Your System" function to make it harder for these nefarious files to enter.

Last summer, after my computer had 'caught' a virus from the editor of the Yearbook of my college choir alumni group, I contacted the computer manufacturer to 'clean' my computer (and learned that the anti-virus program [McAfee] I thought I had had already 'expired') I then purchased an anti-virus program from Norton and renewed the subscription last month.

Haven't seen any weird stuff so far. Guess it works.
