Has anyone had cyberknife? Any side effects? How many brain tumors and size.
I have 5 and the only symptom I have is weakness in my left arm and leg. The dr. recommends cyberknife but said there is a 5% chance that the good cells around the tumor may be damaged or there may be swelling around the treated areas. This is a very hard decision to make. Any information anyone can provide is truly appreciated.
Hi, Angela,
I'm so sorry you are going through this, and I know how you must be feeling.
I do not have experience with Cyberknife, but I just had Xknife this Wednesday. You can read my thread.
I suggest you get different oppinions from different radiation oncologists and neurosurgeons. What is the size and location of the tumors?
I hope you find the right treatment for you. Count on me if I can help.
Hang in there.
Hugs,
karlav.

Angela: I have had Cyberknife at UNC in Chappel Hill. I had 8 treated in 09/08 and three more in 06/09. Cyberknife is focalized, laser guided radiation and does minimal damage to surrounding tissue. I am glad that such treatment is being offered to you instead of jumping into WBR.
What facility would be doing the treatment?

Angela,
I just had the Gamma Knife for one brain met this Thursday. It's usually one session but they are doing two with a lower dose to try to prevent radio necrosis and the fact that it's on my brain stem (high risk area). Did you check into Gamma Knife? I had to go to another location farther away. It seems like a lot of HER2 sisters recommended it. I'm sureCyberknife is close to the same.Hope this helps.
Sending good thoughts and prayers your way,
Kris....

Angela, is the Ixempra working for the lung mets? I am just coming off xedoda for lung mets (stopped working) and going on Gemzar. I am also er-/pr- and seem to be working my way thru the different chemos rather quickly. Hope the treatments works well for your brain mets. I am getting scanned next week for those, am so hoping none are found.
