Stage IV-Six Months of Treatment-NED

Let me give you all some much-needed hope. For the last six months, my body has been doing some serious work by letting Taxol take over and Herceptin do its job. All the while, it has been painful to a greater or lesser degree as I never had surgery being a Stage IV survivor. My numbers had been going "in the right direction" since the inception of treatment, and today after the second set of scans, I walked into my onco's office, not knowing what to expect. I was stunned to hear that I am NED. NED! Of course, that brought tears, but good tears.
From here, we will continue my Taxol/Herceptin regimen until further notice. My doctor is conservative and I'm with it.
I hope this serves as inspiration to those who intend to kick cancer out of their lives!

Thanks for all your displays of happiness at my NED. I wish it for everyone.

I will be on Taxol weekly for three weeks each month until my oncologist feels it's time to come off. She doesn't want a recurrence. I'm not a doctor and I have complete faith in her, her experience and the experience of the collective tens of thousands of patients she and her colleagues have treated over the long-term. That's why I picked her, that's why I listen to what she says.

I really wish that it meant forever, I really wish that I didn't have to deal with chemo at all, but for now, I take today as an NED day, and tomorrow and the day after, unless I'm told otherwise. This is a new phase I need to get used to.
