Happy New Year to all - may we all find the strength, spirit and inspiration to continue to fight for our health and wellness. Have not updated in awhile, so here's what has been going on with me...
Good news:
My 6 month Pet/Ct shows I am still stable in the manubrium and sternum! Brain MRI remains NED since Feb 2008. Actually can be considered great news because I'm only on Herceptin & Zometa since stopping tykerb in July (dehydration from pooperias) and stopping Avastin in September (protein in urine) except there is always a little twist:
WEIRD news - lungs show "changes consistent with an inflammatory/infectious etiology"
Translation: DOUBLE OY.
Will repeat scan end of February with hopes for miraculous self healing unless I am suddenly symptomatic. If lungs are still looking crappy then "an MAI is suspected" and it will have to be confirmed with a bronchoscopey-ish thing that takes 4-6 weeks to grow and then treated with 6++ MONTHS of very harsh antibiotics. Again I say that having cancer should entitle you to a free pass from having anything else.
By the way, I feel fine and aside from an occasional allergy type cough, I am fine. I'm going to power through this thing or die trying. Coughing and typing right this very moment. HA! So my lesson is that eating marshmallow aren't killing me - in other words I'm her2 positive but Marshmallow Negative.

Yes, glad to hear from you. I too have missed that humor :-). I don't have any suggestion for the lungs though my mom used to tell me that my grandma said that mashing potatoes and placing them on your chest (in a wrap of course :-) ) would help heal bronchitis. Never tried it but hey, worth a go eh?

I am going out in the snow today to buy some marshmallows Flori, then I will come home and eat them, mash them and put them on my chest, or stuff my bra with them! If I got real creative, i could glue them to my head and it would look like I had white hair!

Hi Flori, I too am hoping for a good resolution of the lung problem. Sounds like you have been doing very well otherwise. I hope it is nothing. I LOVE marshmellows and I could not stand to waste them on my body. I can eat a whole bag, I would have to say they are my favorite snack or indulgment. Best wishes!!!! Mary L

Great news on the scan. Stable is good. I am so glad your body seems to be not only holding up okay, but in the healing mode as well.
However, strange things can lurk that have nothing to do with cancer, so take good care of yourself.
Maybe the potatoes dissolve or draw out stuff lurking in the chest. I remember my Mom putting warm mustard plaster on our chests when we had bronchial things going on when we were kids. Mustard has mustard seeds and usually has tumeric, which is supposed to be anti inflammatory. I don't know if any of those things work, but we know what to do with leftover potatoes and leftover mustard.
You guys got me in the mood for marshmallows !! I would love to see the marshmallow hair Sheila !! Smile guys !!

Great news! I'm glad to hear that you're doing so well. Keep it going. Perhaps the lung inflammation will just clear up on its own and you won't need any antibiotics.
